Confused about 5mm port things? Unable to comprehend the point of G2 colour schemes? This is your catch-all thread to ponder such conundrums.

What does that actually mean?

They don't look like a C either.

Yes they do.
Can you think of anything they look more like than a C?

A 'D' without it's back. Oh! Oh! Or half an 'O'.

Neither of which would work as they're both missing the right hand parts of the c that open and bite round the bar to attach them!

I can never find them on toys when folk talk about them because I can't see anything that looks like a C. Are they add-on things? Where are these bar things?

One thing I don't understand about TF's is how I still have this obsessive mentality about them. Even molds which absolutely suck, such as PCC, I can't get rid of

that lock onto the bars? yes The c-clip is the thing circled in red in the bellow photos

C-clips also known as Lego hands.

|
|
Post by Philip Ayres on Jul 23, 2015 15:38:55 GMT
Except they are ever so slightly different tolerances. A lego hand won't grip a c-clip bar and a leg bar/handle/whatever is slightly too big for a c-clip tfwiki.net/wiki/C_joint

I thought I had attached some lego to them. Maybe it was Kreo or Character Builders.
Or non of the above.

Now I know what they are they are the guns I don't like. Robots can't hold them in their hands properly. Glad they've been phased out.

Bumping this back as the conversations have drifted back to G2 decoes and "why?", as well as c-clips and 5.mm pegs.

I don't understand alt mode design decisions that leave heads or hands visible in alt modes. Titan Metroplex, Star Sabre, Star Convoy base mode, Movie Megatron etc.
Sometimes it's OK, but most of the time it just feels lazy. Heads and hands are the most identifies parts of the robot so all effort should go into concealing them.

Totally agree with that, Stom'. Heads especially. Excessive kibble pisses me off 'n'all. Some kibble is ok, but excessive kibble that interferes with the robot mode's playability is annoying. Guiledart for example, in robot mode is kibble severely diminishes his playability. But I suppose sometimes kibble is unavoidable for cost reasons.

Why move? G2 Deco tropes are very much a thing people don't understand, and very much an explainable aspect of the franchise. This thread isn't exclusively about C Clips and 5mm pegs. It's about all elements of the franchise people don't understand. My original post didn't just come out of the blue, either, because iG2 decoes were a very big discussion at the time the thread launched.

Phil's hobby is moving posts. The trick is to confuse him by constantly filling your posts with as many different subjects as possible OH GOD I LOVE CHEESE, so yes G2 decos are interesting, but so is Blakes 7.
