Man Of Iron - surreal, eerie, and nothing like any other Transformers comic story. So what I'm wondering (and I think someone raised this on the old board) is...
What if Parkhouse was the one who came back as the main UK comic bod instead of Furman? What would the UK run have looked like then? What weird takes would he have on the bits borrowed from the US stories? And what the hell would his Unicron stories look like....

I honestly think we'd have a very different beast. Steve Parkhouse managed to convey "alien robot" as opposed to just "robot" in his work.
I'm struggling to think off-hand of what kind of direction his fill-in tales would have created but I think a Steve Parkhouse penned Target: 2006 would have been mind-staggering!

I recall we discussed this at length before and, um, yes it would have been different seemed to have been the general opinion.

I love the whole tone and feel and pace to Man of Iron. It remains one of my fave all time TF classics stories. I do love Mr. Furman's work of course, as we all do, but it would have been great to have seen more from the mind of Mr. Parkhouse.
I love story archs an' all that, but I also love stand alone stories. Be great to see IDW do more of those, that may, or may not, fit into the grander arch.
What is Mr. Parkhouse doing these days? Maybe we could encourage him back!

The most recent things I've seen with his name on was a self-published graphic novel called Angel Fire that I hear was quite good. So he's still around.

For more Parkhouse (with John Ridgeway), I recommend Doctor Who: Voyager, which will cleave your mind in two.

It has some lovely concepts floating around in it but still works as a good story too. Well worth a read if you can snag a copy. Karl

Recently reprinted by Panini, in the original black and white. A lottery whether you get a decent copy though, thanks to Panini's piss-poor printing quality on their books.

I did do a sequel to Man of Iron a few years ago for the Scotcon mags which pretty much ignored the Furmanverse. In many ways, Man of Iron did feel like it was off in a self-contained bubble of its own.
