But, with an as-yet-unrealised 3P alternate head, would Red Bumblebee work as a stand-in Masterpiece Cliffjumper?
If you look at MP Bumblebee.... in red.... with a Cliffjumper head... it kinda almost maybe could just about kinda perhaps almost just a tiny bit...?

Have to back up Shockprowl here. In the absence of a proper Cliff I was tempted to buy it and display it in robot mode.
I won't be buying it on principle though. Releasing pointless repaints when there's so much more worthwhile things they could do just smacks of half-arsing it.

Underlying Takara's desire to produce animation accurate robots they've also been trying to produce accurate licensed car modes, which is fine for the car robots but won't work for minibots who had obviously super deformed car modes. They've got away with Bumblebee because his car mode is still 'cute' when real world accurate compared to others, and Badcube got Brawn right because Brawn's car mode doesn't look deformed anyway. It's just smaller. But you can't win with Cliffjumper. There's just no way to do him and cover all the bases. I think they'd have to go with what they've started and do a real world accurate car, but given the mess they seem to have made of Ironhide in trying to mix cartoon and vehicle I wouldn't have high hopes for the end result. |
