Ah, Dreamwave, how they liked to pander to fanboys. That was actually the first time I saw him referred to as Bumper rather than Bumblejumper.
I can't remember where, but a few days ago, I saw a catalogue scan that showed Hubcap as white and Tailgate as yellow.

Was G2 Hubcap green? Nope - Red.
He and Tailgate - my first Transformers.

Embarrassed about having to stand next to Wheelie?

Poor Hubcap. He is the forgotten minibot. I had even forgotten he existed until this thread!

Tailgate's been sitting on the south-facing window sill I see.

I have always liked Hubcap. Something about his bio always made me think of him as a Signals Intelligence guy - forever eavesdropping on Decepticon communications to gather intelligence to put the Autobots one step ahead and that made him memorable for me. But then, the underdeveloped Intelligence Gathering/Special Operations ide of the Autobot army has always interested me.

Karl You've taken thoughts right out my head there, Karlos, that's what I always thought about him. His bio was excellent. Like Beachcomber (& others) in a way, hidden depths. Must admit, though, similar to Doc', I haven't thought about him for years. A character who deserves some love me thinks.

He has a minor role in the novel 'Retribution' and does little of note.

I'm starting to regret not paying Hubcap more attention. Just read his techspecs! This is a very intetesting character.

Huzzah! Welcome back Matt! Ordered your CW Huffer yet? No not yet - will probably wait till I see him in a shop. Disappointed that so many Huffer toys now lack the trademark hood.

Yes that's put me off the Legends version.
I recently got myself a 'Huff', Matt, what do you think of him?

It's not a good Huffer representation at all, in fact I am struggling to think of a really good Huffer redo, I liked the Botcon one back in 2006/7 but other than that I am struggling. Shame, as I like the original Huffer toy. Andy

I must admit, I've recently acquired quite a love for Huffer. Partly from watching the Sunbow Cartoons (although he's not in it much), and partly from owning Cubex/Badcube's Masterpiece style representation of Huffer 'Huff'. He's a brilliant character. And yes, not many great toy versions of him recently.
Maybe Big Phil should Mod all this Huffer talk into a new Huffer Appreciation thread!

Wow! A Huffer thread all for me! It was actually the Ladybird books that made me like him so much at first.

Huffer is one of the true 'stand-out' characters of the '84 line-up.

The Ladybird Books take on Huffer is indeed splendid. They are a much underrated strand of Transformers fiction and has the best rationale from Megatron as to why he spares Starscream's life instead of killing him the minute he steps out of line.

I love them. In fact by coincidence I was listening to a few of them last week. It's almost a running joke in the early ones that Huffer turns up to grumble about something. The engineers like him and Wheeljack get a good deal out of those stories because in the earlier ones they're always trying to build things.

The Ladybird books and tapes are the one true continuity of Transformers.

Hmmm. Interesting. No new head. A Cliffjumper head wouldn't have been right. Didn't Bumblejumper have his own head? Bumblejumper, or Bumper as has largely been settles upon, had his own entire mold he shared with no one else. He was a mazda, I believe.
