Err, so who is Hubcap a repaint of?
And why didn't Hasbro release the third Bumblecliffbumperjumper mold as their own character?
Does Bumper have a character/techspecs?
Why not give him a different colour and reduce confussion in the distant future?

There's actually really good reason to believe that the official hasbro release of the bumper mold would have been white.
They were planning on releasing him, but didn't for unknown reasons.

There's actually really good reason to believe that the official hasbro release of the bumper mold would have been white. Given that the Estrela releases of the Familia mold came complete with package art and a unique Tech Spec, it would seem that Bumper may have been intended for release in the Northern Hemisphere at some point. However, according to that packaging art, Bumper should be white, not yellow. Now I need t see that techspec They were planning on releasing him, but didn't for unknown reasons. I wonder how far those plans got. |

I wasn't for a very long time because my Cliffjumper was and still is yellow.
Very small addition to Phil's comprehensive explanation: Hubcap isn't quite a straight repaint of Cliffjumper because he does have a different head and chest.

Pretty sure Hubs is a completely unique mold. I wonder if the CJ/BB/Bumper trio were gang molded, though. Given that all three were available in the same colors (despite looking so similar), and how yellow CJs, Yellow Bumpers, and red BBs "accidentally" got released. Maybe this headache of excess red bees, excess yellow cjs, and excess bumpers (even though no red bumpers are known to exist) is why hasbro nixed their plans for a white bumper? |

Someone did a 3P Bumper! www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/bumpIIRC There's a number of Minibots not re-released in Japan. Cliffjumper, Windcharger & Brawn only got Keyring releases, thought they did get nice black versions in Japan. Seaspray and Beachcomber, from 85, and Hubcap, from 86, haven't been re-released full stop. By an odd coincidence these are the three other bots who, with BB, got G2'd. So there's certainly room for another Encore Minibot set Bumper could be slipped into. |

Is there any basis for Hasbro doing a white Bumper beyond the Brazilian cardback? It has to be pointed out that one of the Brazilian releases was white so you'd expect the art to match it! Found the cardback www.toyarchive.com/Transformers/Brazilian/SedanBlue.htmlAs top how "acurate" to a potential US version that it you'd need to get Brazilian versions of the other Minibots translated and compared to the originals. But it's the only thing out there so it'll have to do. |

Tis a pity the Encore line seems to have become the Platinum one, as I'm sure the Encore stuff was better quality. These Platinums seem to be scrimping on plastic quality compared to the originals. Although Trypticon does seem to have avoided that problem. |

His own mold?!?! I always thought he was just Red Bumblebee! Heh, I used to think he was the yellow Cliffjumper but Phil sorted me out on that. A quick search reveals that Red BB & Yellow Cliffjumper appear to be officially sanctioned rather than mistakes! The card art for the third* version of these toys shows a photo of the toy, in vehicle mode, with the colour matching the figure on the card.   * The first version of the card shows the art of the robot mode with the toy in vehicle mode. The second version of the card shows the art of the robot mode with the toy in robot mode. The third version of the card shows the art of the robot mode with the toy in robot mode and adds a picture of the toy. Interestingly I can't find a picture of the the third version with the correctly coloured Cliffjumper vehicle mode..... |

Oh gosh of course! I've got their not-Bumblebee! By Impossible Toys? I'd forgotten they do several others. Didn't realise the range was as extensive as Bumper! Not a bad figure. A very basic figure, it's the G1 figure but updated with a bit of articulation. |

Yes that one - which doesn't look like the one 3 pics above when all the others are of the toys in the line (apart from Unicron too & Nebolus - but if you look at Fort Max, Sentinal etc)
