I wonder how many US fans are mucking this up, either intentionally knowing it's for you guys, or unintentionally by not paying attention? You'd hope that if the survey is set up right it would be tracking IP addresses of submissions, so they could filter the results by country. That would be one of the first things I'd have done!

I don't think the majority of people have realised it's a survey for UK fans!

I largely tended towards the positive here, the biggest complaint being how international-unfriendly the "international" Official Transformers Collector's Club is, in terms of pricing and also competence. An official European club with its own exclusives would be a fine thing in my book, but just making the "international" one more accessible would be a start. The toy wants I put in were reissues of Overlord and at least some Dinobots, and I expressed some support for more Headmaster / Targetmaster Generations releases along the lines of Brainstorm and Scoop. I think I put those same points too! better communication, and a proper European club as a conduit for better prices on the Funpub stuff, but you have to wonder how much of that is Funpub controlled and how much Hasbro. Some of those questions were really odd though. Why do they want to know if we make lists of toys? what use is that to them? I was expecting: Do you make lists of the toys you own?Err...Do you make lists of toys you don't own but intend to purchase?Have you been looking at my files?Do you spend hours and hours online looking at photos and reviews of expensive plastic crack telling yourself you don't actually need it, but then end up buying it anyway? Is there a camera in here? Are you then inevitably disappointed and immediately start looking at even newer toys without acknowledging that the ones you just bought and haven't even transformed yet really don't live up to your expectations?<sobs> Would you be interested if Hasbro ran a telephone counselling service to support you with your problem?<wails>

I don't think the majority of people have realised it's a survey for UK fans! Which again comes back to the way it's been set up. It sounds like it was supposed to be a 'sign here to help us' on the quiet at AA that might have got a bit out of hand through the internet grapevine.

I been wanting to test just to see how accessible it really is. But I also don't want to screw up the results any more than other americans already may.

I believe Survey Monkey does collect the IPs of respondents, and as Hasbro almost certainly has an Enterprise account I'd be very surprised if the data analysis tools didn't let them filter on location, etc. It's surprising how much you get for free with these tools sometimes. -Jim

"How much have you spent on 3rd party figures in total since you started collecting?" It only accepts numbers so I can't just write "I dread to think". Where as my problem with that question is going to be working out how much the Energon Aerialbot upgrade set was when I bought it over half a decade ago. Seriously, how am I supposed to remember that - I didn't remember anything that detailed after the Sunday of AA 2009! (Heck, by Sunday night I was doing well if I could remember Name, Rank and Serial Number!) Karl

Welp. I would have filled this in, but apparently they don't want my opinion as I "don't meet the criteria for proceeding any further with this survey". (Presumably because the things that I collect are not on their list of "other media brands" - which actually sounds like the sort of thing one does to cattle...)

It is, I idly reclicked the link after I was rejected from the survey and found that it's response was a "you have already completed this survey" page. I think surveymonkey harvests IP addresses by default anyway, so I don't think it is something that they would have to set up. Karl

Karl Well that's a little harsh to say the least. Past those initial questions it's all about Transformers, and you wouldn't be there in the first place if not for that!

I looked at the survey but decided not to partipate when I read how my personal data can be passed to other countries which may not follow EU data protection regs. A two fingered salute to you, Hasbro UK.

The only personal data recorded is which country you're living in. That's it. And that will help sift out all the non UK answers. Hopefully.

As there was no opt-out button for giving them my personal data there was no way I was trusting their survey.

You'd like to complete a survey and then opt out of giving them your answers?

Personal data has nothing to do with your opinions on Transformers.

Personal data has nothing to do with your opinions on Transformers. Aside from the fact you could argue it does because they're trying to identify demographics, as we've said, there's nothing to worry about with this specific survey because it doesn't request anything personal, apart from your buying habits - which is the point of it in the first place. All it could track beyond the survey is your internet provider/country through your IP address, but every website you visit can do that. Everything else is anonymous. The disclaimer at the start might just be a standard thing in Survey Monkey templates. It's been so roughly set up it could just be intended to mean 'you give us permission to use your answers', however, obviously if you're not comfortable with it, play safe and steer clear of it. I usually would, but on this topic I'd like to give an opinion! I do think if this is genuine, and I'm not totally convinced, Hasbro could have done a better job of being clear about its authenticity.

Indeed. I would have filled out their survey but read their data protection policy and thought: "nah".
