Maybe because they look more like Cybertronian designs than the "Cybertronian, honest" designs we got for Siege..?

Possibly. I loved the Siege line (especially the mud splatter/battle damage decos) but do admit they fall down as "Cybertronian, honest" designs. In that respect, the WFC1/FOC designs have aged well.

I love the FoC stuff. I've got nearly all the generations FoC figures and the Planet X Dinobots. I'd love the whole planet X line, but there is only so much money in the bank. Definitely need the Megatron reissue though. One of my first forays into 3P add-ons was to pimp FoC Grimlock to the max. Then he got superceded by the planet X one.

I informed Andu that FOC is now 10 years old as the game and toys came out in August 2012 (source: TF Wiki).
He did not take the news well and denied this reality repeatedly.
His chums have tried their best to ensure he knows what reality is.

I really like them although the toys don't combine that well. The Combaticons are the only FoC toys I don't have. I got Ruination first and didn't get as far as Bruticus because I'd intended to get the platinum set but never did.
