I have just remembered about that one ep which shared the sets from Ambassadors of Death! That should be interesting.
I used to have the VHS of The Plastic Eaters/Tomorrow: The Rat! Great stuff!

6 discs? Awesome. Must be more than just the PAL ones? 24 eps? 4 per disc?

Doomwatch DVD day!
Mine's tied up in an Amazon preorder for a delayed Liz Birthday present so I won't see it till the end of the week.
M'learned colleagues have received theirs and report that the episode titles are missing from the menus selection screens! Pretty basic mistake surely?

Finished the DVD set.
Bit of a mixed bag in places but the good stuff is very good, with Invasion and You Killed Toby Wren probably being my favourites.
Why wasn't Simon Oates a bigger star than he was, he's superb throughout this series!

I really should pick this up at some point. I've only ever seen clips though I have seen the film many times.

We'll watch some next time you visit and make a judgement on if you need to buy it or merely make Andu watch it.

We'll watch some next time you visit and make a judgement on if you need to buy it or merely make Andu watch it. We watched Doomwatch, and Ralph liked it. However one of the episodes was judged to be not for Andu's viewing.

Having. That. 6 discs? Awesome. Must be more than just the PAL ones? 24 eps? 4 per disc? Almost five years later, Pinwig begins watching. I've got so many boxed sets of classic TV series I haven't watched I've decided this summer something must be done about it. Kicked off this afternoon with The Plastic Eaters. Excellent stuff. Why is it that TV drama from the 70s and 80s is by default better than anything made these days?

1.6 Project Sahara - a cautionary tale about the dangers of computers making decisions based on logic and data instead of utilising human instinct. Great stuff.
I love the fact that Boss Quist has pictures of nuclear explosions on his office wall to remind everyone how serious their job is. Three episodes in a row though that the Doomwatch team have had to battle with Whitehall red tape to save the day. They're having even more trouble with bureaucrats than the Third Doctor did. No surprise most of the dodgy suits in this have also been dodgy Who villains - including Tobias Vaughn and General Scobie!

Yes, he's one of the ministerial types that gets in the way of the brave Doomwatch team saving the world in the first episode.
