First of all, apologies for the poor quality pics. Best I'm capable of, I'm afraid. I've been tempted to try my hand at customizing for years, and finally got around to trying it out. The following is my first attempt, please remember that. He's been entirely repainted, which means it's chip-city when I transform him. As such, once returned to robot mode and touched up, robot he shall remain. I filed off the horns and used filler to create the visor. It's not the cleanest sculpting you'll ever see, but it works. I also sanded a curve onto the front of the helmet. In an ideal world he'd have a new gun rather than the lance. In vehicle mode I think it would work better if the yellow bar on his front ran the perimeter of his chassis. I have a spare sigil somewhere I will add when found. When did model paints get so expensive? I bought like six and two brushes and it cost a little shy of £30!

Thankee! Shame the paints are so expensive though, because I reckon RID Drift could make an equally cool Banzai-tron.

I remember plastic dyeing was big in the world of customs a while back, might be worth looking into.

That looks really good.
What paints are you using? I found buying cheap spray paints (Poundland or discount type shops often have car spray paints cheap) Useful if you will be working primarily with one or two colours.
Plastic dying always sounded great, but I could never figure out a UK version of the product that was used in the US.

I used citadel stuff. I know I wasn't helping myself there, but it's the only place locally that does modelling materials at all. I have never even heard of plastic dying before this thread.

Wouldn't Spirit Games have alternatives? And there's a big old art shop near the college.

That big art shop is not great. It caters more towards the young and the retired woman. Spirit Games has moved and is quite a trek now.
