And therefore if we get a Kup in this line, he will look like Prime.
Kuptimus Prime!

Pinwing darling, I thank you, no post has ever helped clear up so many TF questions for me. Godbomber (thought for ages that was on of Phil's made-up TF names...), Apex, what was ftom what series. NOW IT MAKES SENSE. Godbomber is weird. It transforms into an extra trailer that attaches to the back of Prime in truck mode, and does make its own very hollow robot, but the whole thing comes apart into pieces to fit onto Prime's robot mode to make it much bigger and more impressive looking. It's a pretty hollow and fragile robot by itself, and it only got released in America in the TRU commemorative series, not as part of the original line. So in the US, the Powermaster figure was Hi-Q, the cab transformed into Optimus Prime, and Hi-Q/Prime/Cab combined into Powermaster Optimus. In Japan none of this was anything to do with Optimus, despite the fact he looks exactly like him, which is really confusing but how they played it in the cartoon. He just isn't Prime. Hi-Q was renamed Ginrai, after the human Masterforce character. Ginrai combines with the cab and trailer to make Super Ginrai, the equivalent to Powermaster Optimus. Then the extra step America didn't originally get is where Godbomber fits on to make God Ginrai.

Postmaster Prime is what I do indeed call him, for want of a better name. Because Page-1-of-Marvel-1-master Prime is much more difficult to pronounce.
Also I have taken to referring to Takara's version, on account of his stupid feet, as Balletmaster Prime.
I also call myself "The Llama God". Which I think tells you everything you need to know.

Meanwhile I've seen it suggested elsewhere that the different guns on Prime, and Magnus, owe something to a piece of Delbo art in turn swiped from the PM Prime Character model sheet: tfwiki.net/wiki/File:DelboPMPrimeSwipe.jpg

All this time I've had him, and I only just now realized his headmaster gimmick is completely irrelevant to the function of the toy. He transforms just fine without takibg his head out.

Well, if you had a human trapped in your head, i'm sure you'd be itchy, to.
And humans tend to be smelly, too. Which only makes it more awkward. You can explain a strange smell coming from your gun, or your engine... but from your HEAD?

I wouldn't want a human trapped in my head, that's for sure!

That's what I mean. You don't have to put up with him being there. ALL the time. He's bloody annoying sometimes.

If Headmasters had only just been thought of, if they hadn't existed in 1987, then the TF fandom would think they were rubbish. Nostalgia is the only thing Headmasters have going for them. Little pilots, Targetmasters, all ok. But a robot's head coming off and turning into another robot? ITCHY!!!

Would they really? I'm not sure about that. It's a radical shift, to say that the head of a Transformer is actually another Transformer, but it was exciting when it was a new idea in '87, so it could be now.
I do get what you're saying though, it's kind of changing the premise of what a Transformer is, but I suppose the Marvel comic did it in such a way that we were told these really were Transformers, but had temporarily removed their heads to allow for a quick integration with the local people they'd descended on. I would feel like you if they'd suddenly said, hey, you know these dudes you've loved for the last few years, actually, they aren't quite what you think.

I never liked headmasters as toys. I would rather headmaster updates that ignore the gimmick.
However, it has always been an interesting concept in fiction, though the japanese (and many fans) take the most boring route possible.

I'm aching for a picture that confirms his feet can be made to transform the normal way. There was that one grey prototype image in one of the magazine scans that suggested he doesn't *have* to be in balletmaster mode.

Nicely posed photo to disguise the wonky feet. I'm still on for this version as a one off display piece. But if I hadn't already paid the deposit I'd have crumbled on the cheapie Hasbro ones.

Don't!
Really dont. Primes good and all, but how ever awkward the legends versions feet look, they have to be more functional than Hasbros.

Oh gods. I think... I think I actually prefer the Hasbro chest... Now I've had it in hand... But then I do like having chests in hand...
Anyhoo... Any idea when this thing's going to hit? Not being able to read Japanese and all.
That said... I can tell that the text says something about it being released in December... (I know literally two characters in that entire piece.)
...and then the Takara Tomy Mall site confirms it's being released at the end of December. That's good. It'll give me something to look forward to after Christmas.
