Hmmm, GG trailer looks better though PMOP robot looks better (proper feet). It's good they look so different though as they are meant to be two completely different characters after all!

Okay, those arm panels looking like they don't peg close is the absolute killer on this. The feet are not only bad, they get worse looking every time I see it. The cab looking so sunk in, in robot mode is the same way. Looked offputting at first, but continually gets worse every time I see it. Now seeing it from the side, those arm panels look like they're only barely held up by tension in the hinge. He has the best tractor, and best guns, but everything else about him comes up way short compaired to the hasbro version.

I cant forgive the hasbro version rubbish feet. Well the legs. Because they reused the magnus parts but made the lower legs wider the only standing postition its capable of looks horribly awkward. While Ginrai has kind of weird legs at least they allow for some movement. Fake HiQ is much nicer than the blob on front of Prime (even if the cab windows do look sunk in) and daft as it sounds the red shoulders make the back look much better. As does the choice of grey over Hasbro almost pale beige grey.

Ditto + Soundwave.
Unfortunately I'm off to the smoke tomorrow AM so they'll be first toys of the new year.

As expected, my delivery today has been cancelled because DPD don't yet have the package from Kapow. I couldn't see how they would have had it.

My Ginrai's just arrived. Initial thoughts are I like him, but if you're happy with PMOP then he's not a must-buy. There's elements of both that outwardly the other I think. I far prefer Ginrai's grey, but his brighter red can look a little cheap (to my eye) compared to Op.
The feet don't really bother me that much, but given the engineering that went into the arms (there's a sliding section that doesn't exist in PMOP) it's weird that you then just end up with those panels hanging there. If I was just going to pose him in robot mode on a shelf I'd be tempted to just pop them off and store them.
Overall I still really like the toy though. The paint is far superior, especially on the Headmaster (my first Japanese version so not sure if this has been consistent on the packaging, but it brought a smile to my face after months of seeing them called Titan Masters). I don't think anyone who's ordered one will be disappointed but if you're on the shelf my feeling would be to stick with Optimus unless you're going all in with God Bomber as well.

This so-called 'Ginrai' is the PROPER Master Optimus Prime.

Must stop procrastinating and order a Ginrai. Oh yes, thats much better. Every change is for the better. Even the feet. On their own they don't look great but offer the toy a better standing pose, a little extra height, look more PMOP and presumably are a change needed to make Godbomber work. This feels like PMOP where TR Prime still felt like CW Ultra Magnus despite all the changes. It cost £5 shy of 3 times as much as TR PMOP. I still slightly regret buying Prime, but have no such concerns about Ginrai. - In hand your view on the feet probably wont improve, but they dont look as bad to me as some of the photos and as I said above offer many benefits. - Cab windows, again they dont seem as sunk back in person. - The arms panels are rock solid, they way they click in to place is a bit odd, but I can pick the whole toy up by it and have to shake it to get it to unfold. Roll on Godbomber.

Oh and just to completely disagree with Jetty's post I think theres a case for Hasbros having the better truck mode at least in a few ways.
Hasbros is a little more stable, unless Im missing a couple of tabs.
The extra grey does make the trailer look more coherent.
But
The Legends cab looks much better
The trailer is more G1 toy accurate and the new feet tuck in better
and the difference in sturdiness is only slight.
Hmm, it probably comes down to personnel preference, but Takara probably just wins again.

Andu kindly donated his TR PMOP to myself after he acquired LG God Ginrai. I have been playing about with it. Really happy with it. Good fun toy (my only quibble is I wish the guns matched). Also nice to have a PMOP at last. I have the re-issue God Ginrai from a few years back but that is not PMOP (different character and has Godbomber). I also choose to believe PMOP's little man is Hi-Q! Also a toy that looks good just standing there in robot mode.

A small but significant assembly error has come to light on Optimus Prime The upper legs on Apex are designed to have circles on the knees like HiQ has. They're correct on Ginrai's Titanmaster but it's only now we've seen that that it's been realised that they're there on Apex too and that his upper legs are the wrong way round!

Well as absolutely no-one had noticed this before (including many reviewers), I think this is one error I can give a pass. Doesn't really affect the toy.

Now that I have seen Ginrai in the plastic I think it's fine. The legs are not as annoying as they appeared in pictures. Overall though, I think PMOP just looks and feel nicer in hand.
