Given we questioned on here what Cosmos could be repainted as, it's a pretty inventive solution if Hasbro want to get another toy out of that mould. I just hope they do a Huffer and at least give him a new head. I'm not sure it's likely though given the job the head does in the transformation. It has to plug the hole.

I've been saying that's what Cosmos should've been repainted into for AGES! Finally, Hasbro are listening to me!
Right, Hasbro, I'm also quite keen on Natalie Portman...

What's the RiD Prime he's stood behind? That looks a bit too nice to be the warrior. Is it?

Why Blaster, what a lovely butt flap you have there.

haha!
Those are the ramps, attached to the side of the legs in all the other pictures. For some resaon here they're not, but you can still see the green connector that links them to the leg at the other end. They're attached to connectors on his rear which makes for some interesting base mode combinations.

I'm not sure the way the legs fold up means they are stored in the legs in robot mode. And if not... Where's the second one kept?
Bases connect ramp to ramp, so without 2 per base you're limited to only connecting two at a time.

all I can think after seeing that photo is how nice a Senator Shockwave that Optimus could make.

Both he and Blaster have just been big misses for me. They're approaching Ironhide/Ratchet levels of 'why can't you just do me a simple, decent update' levels of ridiculousness.

I'm really not feeling it the way I did with Blaster. I don't like it. The alt mode is far too plain in those pics. Its just a grey box. Its that plain I initially missed the cassette deck and mistook it for the back of the toy.

Not sure. Judgement reserved until we actually see one. The body works for Blaster but this isn't quite Soundwave. It's interesting that one of these official promo pics is art that gives the toy more detail than it seems to have. I don't remember seeing actual art in this type of photo set before unless it was the box.

For me, the Prime deluxe version of Soundwave (both toy and general design) is the best. While I can appreciate Blaster , this is not Soundwave . Soundwave is not a boom box and the proportions just don't work for him here.
But I do love Buzzsaw.

I think I figured out one of the things that puts me off. His chest is solid clear. The original Soundwave was smokey clear, but it was also inset into his chest. This one the door is external and extends out. If the sides were painted to match the body, I think that would do quite a bit to make it look not wrong.

Actually it is also the proportions . Blaster and Soundwave have quite different proportions , especially in comics. Blaster is bulkier. For Soundwave , it doesn't work so well. Plus the boombox...

Thinking about it an early reveal of Soundwave has implications:
If Hasbro stick to the same pattern as previous years we'll probably get new toys in Feb(The final CW wave), May (First Titans Wave), August and December.
I can't see Soundwave being the December toy revealed this early. So he must be the August toy, which in turn makes it more likely that both Blaster and Optimus are in Wave 1.

We'll probably have a better idea after US Toyfair in 3 weeks time, but May would be a good guess

It's still nagging at me, this release pattern. There still seems to be a hole in May to me. The missing seventh CW wave. Hasbro said Autumn for TR, which says August wave to me. May just seems too early, but all that there is there at the moment is box set central. I really hope Toy Fair gives us the answer, even if it is 'we're taking a break from retail waves to give the box sets a chance'.
