Such a sad loss. Although he appeared in many films the first Planet of the Apes film is by far my favourite Charlton Heston film.

My personal favourite Charlton Heston film is The Omega Man. Andy I really need to see all of that at some point. It is one of those films that I have seen various bits of at different time, but never been around and able to sit down and watch it when it is on. An oversight I must correct in due course. Karl

I too have only seen bits of The Omega Man, late at night one time. What I saw was pretty mad.

I watched about half an hour of The Omega Man on TV once after a workmate recommended it. What little bit I watched I couldn't make any sense of it but maybe if it comes on again I might try and catch all of it.

It's wonderfully OTT especially compared to it's previous film incarnation The Last Man on Earth and much more than the story it's based on I Am Legend.

The original Planet of the Apes is going for £3 in HMV. At that price, I may have to pick it up for some vintage Big Chuck* action. While I had disdain for Heston the man with regards to his views on gun control, I always had a lot of time for Heston the screen actor. He only really played one type of role but he did it very well and was a firm childhood favourite. The google-box was always switched on when a Heston film was screened.
Recently re-watched The Ten Commandments. Fine tosh, and Heston was mesmeric. Also, he had a quite awesome beard in that film.

*The Burns family line have long been fans of Heston, who for reasons obscure to me, has always been referred to as 'Big Chuck'.

Aw, very sad loss. He was a legend.
Ian
EDIT: And as no ones said it yet, I'll say the inevitable:
"Damn them all to Hell!!!!"
or was it "Damn 'you' all to Hell!!!!!"?
