There's another one next month containing: X-Men Chronicles 1-2, Tales From The Age of Apocalypse 1-2, X-Man -1, Blink 1-4; material from X-Men: Age of Apocalypse One-Shot, X-Man Annual '96 And a further one in May containing: X-Man 53-54; X-Men: Age of Apocalypse 1-6; Exiles (2001) 60-61; What If? (1989) 77, 81; What If? X-Men Age of Apocalypse 1; material from X-MEN: Age of Apocalypse One-Shot, Hulk: Broken Worlds 2, X-Men Prime, X-Men: Endangered Species, Exiles: Days of Then and Now 1 But I'm not sure whether those further volumes are worth spending money on? Martin The one next month has material that was published around the time. The two X-Men Chronicles were the replacement for the X-Men Unlimited Quarterly title that ran at the time. The first shows a bit of the early X-Men, before Weapon-X and Jean went their own way. The Tales of AoA - feature Cyclops quite heavily. X-Man Annual 96 is some lovely Alan Davis work. Probably worth getting. I think I'll probably have to get it if it contains backstory, 'cos I can't get my mind away from the question of what would happen to the Transformers in the AoA universe. If the volcano explodes in 1984, what is the world outside like? What machines does Auntie detect as the dominant life-forms and model their disguises on? What happens to them when they emerge into North America? I haven't got my head around the AoA timeline yet, so not sure what the state of play would be in 1984. Would welcome any insights! Martin

Martin I imagine Apocalypse would enslave them using his vaguely defined powers or the all-powerful plot device TRANSMODE VIRUS (or whatever it was called), resulting in a rag tag coalition of Autobots and Decepticons bravely resisting them. Though any Transformers on Apoc's side would be in a bit of a problem fighting Magneto and all...

Martin Given the sliding timeline of the MU chances are they would revive pretty much as we see. After that I'm not sure. Professor X would have been killed probably around 5, no more than 10 years before the volcano.

You are prejudiced.
Though an AoA set Transformers tale would be quite interesting. I do love the AoA reality, so many unexplored corners to play with - what happened with Rom and the Dire Wraiths? What about the Beehive and Warlock, Galactus, Thanos...
What about Elf with a Gun?

The Transformers would beat Apocalips easily as he is just a crap big guy with giant blue comedy lips. -Ralph Hardly, especially as in the AoA timeline it would be unlikely that the Witwicky's would be alive, so no fuel conversion recipe. The Savage Land is a paradise filled with people who fled Apocalypse. Unlikely the probe the Ark sent would get to there without being destroyed so the chances of Shockwave and the Dinobots being reanimated is slim. North America would already be under Apocalypse's control by the time the Ark was revived. It would actually be an interesting tale how they survived, if they survived. There's all sorts of aspects of the greater MU that didn't really get tackled in AoA. Andy

It would actually be an interesting tale how they survived, if they survived. Assuming they solved the fuel problem somehow, they could survive by disguising themselves appropriately, particularly by adopting shrinking size disguise modes. They might be useful allies to have in a war involving mutants if by being robots they can go undetected by telepaths. They could also infiltrate computer systems like in 'Pretender to the Throne'. And the Creation Matrix could do some interesting things with Sentinels. The Dinobots and Shockwave might be discovered in some other way by all the humans and mutants arriving in Antarctica. Martin

Given the level of understanding they would have of humans/mutants would be interesting.
Remember when Optimus and co absorb all the info via tv in US#1/UK#2 - they'd be absorbing info from Apocalypse's propaganda and the like. Would they be duped into falling in with Apocalypse. Megatron and co, would be a rogue element that I doubt Apocalypse would tolerate - then you have the folks with the transmode virus and the Reavers.

The likes of Soundwave and Ravage would very likely manage to avoid mishap, and as in the regular universe Soundwave would send a distress signal to Cybertron - though the message picked up by Straxus and Scrounge would tell a different story in this timeline. Perhaps there is an untold tale in the Age of Apocalypse in the year 1986 when the Space Bridge first comes on line. Would the Cybertronian Decepticons try to invade en masse or be more cautious?
Meanwhile Fort Max and Scorponok would be on Nebulos but Goldbug's distress signal would not arrive. Would they pick up a different message from Earth, or none at all?
Presumably there would be no Galvatron from the future, so maybe Operation: Volcano would succeed - or maybe the different happenings with the Space Bridge would mean Volcano was off the table.

How would he get the resources though? Would it be a deal with the human council? I can't see Apocalypse being stupid enough to agree to giving Soundwave access to send for reinforcements.
Can't see there being any message to Nebulos from Earth. Yeah Galvatron wouldn't happen. It all depends on the fate of the Creation Matrix though, if that disappears or is destroyed somehow, then that would cause the Autobots to try to get to Earth.
There is indeed scope for a nice AoA set Transformers tale.

It would be consistent with the spirit of AoA for allies to become enemies and vice versa due to different life experiences. If she is not crippled by a Decepticon attack, tech genius Josie Beller could be the Autobots' guide and ally. The other Neo-Knights however are apparently mutants, and so could be on the side of Apocalypse.
Who if anyone gets the Underbase when it passes through the Solar System in 1989?

Martin The Underbase would probably be something that they don't get their hands on, someone would probably take the decision to destroy it rather than have it fall into either side's hands. Blackrock would likely be involved in the Human Council in some shape or form. Yeah, you could see Josie Beller perhaps having been saved by Sentinels from a Mutant attack, developing an affection for the Transformers when she sees them. Perhaps the Human Council kept and disected some Transformers to make their Sentinels better? Andy

Perhaps the Human Council kept and disected some Transformers to make their Sentinels better? Man of Iron in England! And/or Apocalypse's human cyborg enforcers could be partly Cybertronian tech. Martin

Man of Iron in England! And/or Apocalypse's human cyborg enforcers could be partly Cybertronian tech. Martin I was just going to say Man of Iron. Who also has the location of Cybertron, albeit an incorrect one given that the planet has now moved following it being shaken loose from it's orbit. Yeah the Infinites, being genetic soup in cybernetic shells, almost the inverse of pretenders! You could easily see that a Transformer carcass could have become the basis for them. Andy

The Sentinel Processing Plants where they are created is on Muir Island in Scotland, so the Human Council, Bolivar Trask and Moira may have had access to the tech from the Navigator and Man of Iron, so you could reasonably assume he was found and either voluntarily assisted the humans or was destroyed and dissected.
What about the Decepticon ship that was in cloaked in orbit of Earth as well. That would still be floating around as well.

Optimus fate within this alternate reality, should be one already familiar to me and thee, With his connection to the Matrix it would be revealed on Cybertron were he to expire, Sending more Transformers to earth to investigate would be a threat to Apocalypse' empire, So he'd be preserved and incapacitated, to allow his secrets to be investigated. A captive Optimus could hide the mutants from the Sentinel's detection, But would he simply just play along or would he display some gumption, He could instilll one or two sentinels with the gift of life, A way to create for Apocalypse some strife. I like your picture of ol' Op. He always seems to lose his top.
Let's say Cybertron's unaware Of Earth and what goes on there. 'Cos if they knew, they'd have made their mark And it seems they haven't and are in the dark.
Would Volcano happen in this world of woe Or was it caused by the message seen by Scrounge and co.?
Would Max stay on Nebulos or go elsewhere? Both sides seemed eager to leave there.
Let's say on Earth the larger ones Are found and captured, 'Bots and 'Cons. I think that shrinking technology Helps others stay at large and free.
Not just Megs, Soundwave and co. But Reflector, Raindance and Grand Slam also. And if a few more are on the ball They could down-size rather than take a fall Though they wouldn't get very far With their brain in a battery toy car.

I've not read What If? X-Men Age of Apocalypse 1; material from X-MEN: Age of Apocalypse One-Shot, Hulk: Broken Worlds 2, X-Men Prime, X-Men: Endangered Species, Exiles: Days of Then and Now 1
But would the Ark have crashed in the same location - seen mention of the Savage Land - but that could be just Shockwave, unless the Ark crashed down there instead. I've not read all the posts other than first but had to post something after seeing Andrew drawing WOW!!!

I fear Volcano would not exist in a form that was familiar to us, I think it's roots would be found in the fate that befell Straxus, The space bridge would continue as it we had seen before, Used by Straxus to bring to other worlds the gift of war,
Nebulos would still be an attractive proposition to Maximus, but would some of the battle hungry leave Cybertron to Straxus, He might not have the same complement of crew, the same goes for Scorponok too,
I imagine some Transformers would be in the Human councils employ, Not all of the shrunken or reduced to a toy, I would think that Sentinels would not be fabricated solely by Master Mold, But by a couple of Autobots, Wheeljack and Ratchet (he's bold).
What of the Transformers with innate gifts, surely someone like Windcharger with his magnetic abilities, Would be someone of interest to both sides, and the others too would be of great use, Now I'm not sure if these could be manually harnessed with ease, So deals would be struck, and strange alliances certain characters would need to choose
I'd forgotten about the lost Raindance and Grandslam, But without the search would they be recovered by man,

When the Ark system come on line they would be scanning the Sentinels - but the Decepticons mainly got up first, but some land based forms would need to be scanned - maybe the slave transport.
But when did Nur take over? Was it 2 years before the MU Fall of the mutants arc? X-men C#1 being set in the 70's with Wolverine qitting the team. Been ages since read the whole arc so can't remember the dates.
Apocalypse MU first appearance X-factor #5 april 86. FoM Nov 87 - so in AOA the take over could have happened in 1986 - but this is 2 years after Ark is online. But we'd need it to have happened 1982. Anyone got exact dates for when events happened in AOA - I think there was a timeline somewhere.

Professor Xavier was killed twenty years in the past which was 10 years before the proliferation of mutants and heroes, Hence why there was no Avengers or Fantastic Four, Apocalypse started his attacks at a time before, They had all met or gotten their power, Made it easy for him to conquer America and sit in his tower.
