Well I'm glad it wasn't a stroke, but I wish it had been better news. My thoughts are with you and your family Phil.

Phil, you and your family are in my thoughts also. I hope they are able to pin down the cause soon.

Well we get free eye-tests north of the border. Which is nice. Andy There is a slight catch. It is recommended that your eyes are checked every two years and if you stick to that schedule the tests are indeed free or if it has been more than two years since your last test. However, if you need your eyes tested between the two year periods, then you have to pay. A strangely little publicised fact. At least we have access to free tests though. It's idiotic that any payment should have to be made. It is a medical necessity. I would be disabled without my glasses. -Ralph

It's the last thing I think about at night and the first thing I think about in the morning. I thought I had left this kind of stress behind me. Apparently not. Damn it! It doesn't sound right. If you're on a course and prepared to work, they shouldn't put barriers like that in your way. So, do they have many students who take the course, pass their exams/essays and don't get a certificate simply because there were no placements to be had? There must be some safety net, surely! Martin No. It is the students own responsibility to find and organise their own placements. The Uni will take nothing whatsoever to do with it, though they will tilt their heads and say "it's very hard". There are certain ways in which the world of counselling does not interface with reality. -Ralph

That sounds about right for a University. I had related problems organising my placement at Uni and the basic response was "it's not easy, is it?"
How many months do you have to build up your 100 hours? How many hours per "session" are you doing at the moment with your placement? Would they be willing to increase the time you spend with them per session to help build up your hours? Does getting to and from there on the bus/walking count towards your hours?*
*That last question was lighthearted, but worth a try!!

Simular Uni problems here too. I have to say our Uni does'nt communicate well with the students at all. And of course it is the students fault for not having telepathy.

Lucky for me the Environmental Chemistry community in Scotland is a pretty tight-knit bunch. Many of the high ranking chaps in SEPA and suchlike were in my course in years gone by. I'm told that Dr Pulford has been having words with the manager of a SEPA lab in East Kilbride about me taking my placement there next year. It would be awesome, but if it falls through for whatever reason I honestly don't know what I'll do. Anyway, channelling commences for you, Ralph.
In other news, I found out today my grandpa who's staying out in Malaysia with my aunt Evelyn has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Spare channelling power directed at him and my aunt would be appreciated.

I will do this.
Very interesting day. Had a very catharthic experience in a Uni class this afternoon. Got home to find a message on my answering machine from one of the counselling agencies I contacted. May be a possibility there so I've to call them back tomorrow to arrange a meeting. Then I checked my mail and was astonished to find, completely unexpectedly, a cheque for £100.05 from Glasgow City Council returning overpaid council tax! So I treated myself to a Doctor Who DVD set (The Silurians/Sea Devils/Warriors on the Cheap) I wished for (2 of my favourite stories in there) but would not have otherwise have been able to afford. The rest shall be banked towards generic living costs.

Nick, I shall also direct channelling power in the direction of your Aunt and Grandfather.
Ralph a nice surprise there on the cheque. Always nice to get money _back_ from the Council. You beat me to "Beneath the Surface" - I've slated that as a possible purchase come payday. I've technically seen all three stories on that - although I don't recall much about "Warriors" and I know that at least two of them are good stuff.
I got a surprise when I came home this week as well. I should explain firstly that on Monday of this week they started demolishing the garage that I live behind as it is getting made over to have a bigger shop -unit that is going to be one of those Tesco Metro stores. By Wednesday night they had only got as far as removing the pumps and bringing down the canopy (that was fun - everytime I came back from work there was a little bit more smashed. Like a slowed down Godzilla attack.) They seem to have picked up the pace a bit today - I came home and the entire shop unit had been reduced to a small heap of rubble.
Perhaps they had found the "atomic ray" option on their digger.....

Channelling now running on maximum overdrive for all. Hope peoples probs improve soon. A very long time ago an ex of mine had a habit of licking my eyeballs during more intimate moments, which I couldn't stand! Licked your eye balls?! Yuk! I wear contacts and have for 15 years. I've had, in total, 3 infections in that time, which is nawt. The ones I wear at the mo are continous wear ones which I keep in for a entire month without taking them out! Brilliant! It's like having normal vission! I never (touch wood) have any probs with them. Contact lense technology is improving all the time. The ones I wear mean there is no lack of oxygen to my eyes at all. They are expensive though. But it realy does depend on the person. Some folkes love 'em, some can't stand 'em. I can't stand specs! But they're worth a try deffinately. I started yesterday on a run of 5 day shifts. So busy yest didn't get chance to post even once! Nightmere. Bit better today. Things ok in the Shockprowl household. Nothing to report.

Got a meeting with a counselling place next Tuesday. Another one is showing some interest too. Things are looking up.
An essay of doom to start tomorrow. My free time is just leaking away. Taking the night off though. I have some cider to relax with and am watching 'Doctor Who and the Silurians', which is mental.

As well as their imposing Dinosaur. I've had an interesting week work-wise. Nothing too bad, but glad it is at an end nevertheless. Was the last person in the office at ten to five this evening (we close at 3.30 nominally), but came home for a nice baked potato with corned beef and onion which was very nice. Then I put my feet up with some episodes from the Madman boxed set of "Macross" to get my fix of older animated greatness. I was amused when I came home this evening to note that, although it only took them a day to demolish the main building of the garage next door, they are still working on clearing up the rubble - what was true when we were children remains true in adults. The making of the mess, which is the fun part after all, always lasts far less time than the process of clearing up afterwards. Karl

Been having a tough night with Star, she is neither eating or drinking and looking lethargic. I am having to stay up with her to try and make sure she at least drinks something before we rush her into the vets for 8.50am.

Just had a major, er, event at work. Not involving me really, although I was there. Wish I could go into details, but can't obviously, but blimey... All ok in the Shockprowl household. We think little Piglet is entering a "testing the boundries" stage. She's beging a bit of a handfull (Destructor!), but it's funny too, and some times when you're telling her off, it's hard to keep a straight face! EDIT: Oh and channelling continues at full velocity to all those who require it.

Star was taken in at 8.50am this morning and had blood tests, an enema, and a check up. Star came home and even started to try and eat her food again and also managed to have a drink of water.
George and I were then called later today to bring Star back in because the blood test results were not good. She aparentley is Anaemic and has a lack of red blood cells. Star is now in the vets for overnight attached to a drip and also awaiting possible further treatment.

Ken, sorry to hear about Star, but hopefully with a good vet they will be able to do something to alleviate the situation. I shall keep my fingers crossed.
I got a fright this morning - I was sitting at the computer when the house started to shake and rattle. It was a bit like a submarine movie when they start to get close to the hulls crush-depth. I looked out the back window and could see a big orange metal arm roaming back and forth over the wall at the back of the garden. Apparently, despite the fact that they weren't going to be working weekends they decided to carry on clearing the sight today, so for several hours there was a JCB tracking back and forth and shaking my house. As a result I discovered that movie Bumblebee isn't completely stable on his feet - he is prone to rattling forward and backward on the shelf. They seem to be done now, and hopefully they won't be working tomorrow.

We may be getting Star back on Sunday depending on how she is doing. Samples of her blood have been tested further as the labs have found what may a small trace of Leukemia. I really hope not. Will stay updated.

- anyway, as I was saying. 4th of 5. Been really busy shifts so far as well. Not that it's ever quiet as such. Had a bad job yesterday though.
In other news, ordered myself Revoltech Optimus to fight Megatron. Tee hee hee. Mrs Shockprowl and I have started watching the series Firefly on digital versitile disk. Only watched the first ep so far, but really enjoyed it, even though it's a bit 'coutry&western' at times. And Piglet keeps astounding us with her development. Some times they just say or do some thing which really brings it home that they're growing up. Last night after Mrs Shockprowl said "Postman" Piglet said "Etters, posmna, etters, brum burm". Might not sound like much but when it's your child is brilliant, and scary! She's growing up! Aaaargh!
