Am I right in thinking the Takara Trypticon is identical to the US release? If so that's a bit disappointing and breaks the trend of 'slightly more interesting variants'  |

It looked in pictures like it was going to be a darker grey, but if it is the difference seems negligible. Has anyone spotted a bank holiday discount voucher for Smyths? I think I need to get this chap now.

Finally unboxed Trypticon last night, and... bloody hell.
It's MASSIVE. I mean, I know it's shorter than Max, but the way it's proportioned, and the heft... this one actually FEELS like it's a city bot. And the city mode is actually more than half decent. And the spaceship mode isn't half-arsed - in fact it's fully-arsed, 'cos his arse is a face to make him look like the flying monster that he is.
Trypticon's bloody great, and I love him.
Now to wait for Reprolabels to get a sticker set out...

Yes: I regretted not getting a 2nd Metroplex gun with the toy (3p fixed that), so I went Takara for Devastator (extra guns) and Max (toy head, sword, Japanese sound chip "GLORIOUS!") and anticipating a similar Brucie Bonus I shelled out for the deposit sight unseen.
You win some, you loose some. I'm told the bad hip ratio is much much lower with the Takara version.

He is very very nice.
Hips are scary!
Make sure you find the release buttons for the side panels and hips, same button on each side does both. Release buttons need to be pressed to secure the hips in robot mode.
Contrary to initial concerns, the tail is HUGE
Spaceship mode is great, base mode good.
But the size of it .....
