My attention has been drawn to this: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1440246408Apparently the author has a previous time on the subject which is considered very good so I'm in for a copy. Has to be better than the Alvarez "I'll leave out the toys I don't like" book from waaaay back.

Only problem is he is the guy who did the text for IDW's Marvel Classics trades, which were poorly researched to say the least.

The front cover isn't very encouraging.

I feel that the cover should be of a big fat man, greedily consuming Actionmasters

Yeah, I already have a very complete guide to G1 so I'll pass at least till someone (Phil) reports back.

I'd be willing to give it a shot. I'm always up for a good reference book and the only US G1/2 TF toy guide I've got is the Cybertronian Index and I don't like the way that's organised.

Have you got a copy of Generations, the Japanese guide?
I'm really of the opinion it's the only G1/2 guide anyone *really* needs. But I do like toy books.

Yes, I do have that and it is gorgeous. But I'd still go for something comprehensive.

The Cybertron Unoficial recognition guides from way back were also good and it will take something special to top them.

Did anyone buy this in the end?
If so is it any good?
I have some spare money now so am hunting down the things I missed out on and contemplating throwing £16 at it.

I misread that as:

Anyway it's here.
Thick, 1cm and a bit.
Yes I know weapons & accessories are easily lost, there's no need to tell me that everytime you show me a picture of some!
Just on a quick glance it looks a better effort than the Alvarez tomes. Bigger pictures than Generations but not so good and not so good layout. Reproduces TechSpecs for each toy.
