What a waste of money that turned out to be. It's little more than a glorified advert for the All Hail Megatron series. Couple of short puff-piece interviews with the writer and artist (not in any more depth than IDW's press release), a roll-call of characters featuring a line apiece for each character and old recycled art, and a few pages from the AHM series. IDW are taking the piss charging money for this. I should have flicked through it first! But I must be positive: it's all too easy to forget to buy loo roll so always best to have some spare on standby.
As for the AHM pages, not much happens slowly. What little dialogue there is, is pure Sunbow. I could hear the voices in my head. This is is either a good or bad thing, depending on your opinion.
I feel somewhat ripped off. I could have bought a deep fried battered pizza* with my £2.15, damn it!

First Dreamwave, then Metrodome and now IDW seem to be throwing a few dead horses at us.

Hmm. Ta for the heads-up there Ralph. I think I shall give this one the big skip in that case, and save myself the cost of a couple of bagged salads.

Honestly, I can't recommend this at all. Complete waste of money. Only worth picking up if a completist. Bit of a mis-step from IDW! I am sure the quality will resume with the Grimlock Spotlight. That's still being advertised as coming out in...March. Whoops! EDIT: forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=153048Covers the same ground for £2.15 less. -Ralph

Glad I held off on getting this and I can't see me bothering to get it either. Long gone are the days of being a completist.

I'm passing on my copy to young Nick. From there, I expect it to end up in the recycling bin.

I presume the strip pages are the usual sort of preview pages that will be in the series itself?

Whoops! I wish I'd read Ralph's post before my trip to the comic shop. Ah well.
Can't really pass judgment this early but if the rest of the 256 pages of All Hail Megatron are like this then Simon Furman will be weeping face down into his bowl of Cheerios after all the work he put into his carefully phased Decepticon M.O.

Flicked through this in FPG today.
A waste of money.

Nick now has my copy.
I have to say, the 8-page preview has really put me off AHM. It's the stupidity of the humans that really annoyed me. I think I'll hang off on the series and wait and see what the reviews are like.

Whoops! I wish I'd read Ralph's post before my trip to the comic shop. Ah well. I second that. Only more so, given that I skimmed very quickly through the actual preview, since I didn't want the series to be spoiled yet. Methinks I might have been more hesitant, and flicked through in advance, had it not been so long since IDW released something I wanted to spend money on.

Not sure whether they are the same preview pages, but there are unlettered preview pages unveiled out there on the intertubes.
The art really isn't doing anything for me at all. Shall wait until I see what the dialogue is like but I'm not sure I'll bother with "All Hail Megatron".

I'm not too fussed either way. Or as the BBC might say, other Transformers comics are available.

On the plus side, I like the 'Scarface' cover. Even though they've ruined it with clutter. But yeah, other than that, meh. I reeeeeally want AHM to be good, but the preview seems tediously "Decepticons SMASH!" and doesn't really seem (based on these first few pages) to have anything in common with the previously established IDW-verse mythos - or indeed 'look', for that matter. It seems to have taken a sharp right back towards Dreamwaveville, and that ain't a good thing. I can only hope that story-wise it's being planned from the 'big trade paperback' position, and what we're seeing here is merely a prelude.

I've seen the newsarama pages, but not the pages in Focus On (it had sold out by Thursday in my local shop), but based on what I've seen and read about them, I'm not inspired. The art isn't to my tastes, but I can live with that so long as the story is interesting, but these pages seem to hint at a lack of complexity. It all depends, I guess, on why these pages have been chosen, if they're fairly simple because they're designed to catch the attention of the lapsed fan on the net or in the shops and from there there'll be a rapid spike in quality, then great. If they reflect the tone of the whole series, well, it'll be a long 12 months. But I'll be there to the end. More fool me.

Received Focus Decepts the other day. Yeah, bit of a non-event. The interviews were ok. But mostly it was padding. I am, I have to say, very excited 'bout All Hail. As an idea it's sounds fantastic! I just hope they do a good job. IDW are saying this is the biggest thing since sliced bread in TFdom. Hope they pull it off.
Some points from out the comic. I'd say spoilers, but I don't think there's anyone else who'll wana read it.
The Cast: So, Soundwave's back. The Insecticons and Constructicons have landed. Still no Dirge, or more of Thrust. Devastator is featured. I thought 'Gestalt' technology was the big new thing? Has the secret been revealed? Will we find that out in the upcomming 4 spotlights? Monstructor was taken by 'cons I suppose, and AHM is set "a year after current events..." etc.
No Shockwave then. At least at first (hopes!).
Art Style: He's gone 'Masterpiece' with the Seek- er, I mean, Strike Planes. Megatron, however, appears to be 'Devastation Style', as opposed to sharing the MP styling. Generally though, I thought it looked ok.
Story: Yeah good point that, was it Doc' or Karl, made 'bout the humans being numb-nuts, just standing around. Didn't like that. Loved Megatron wasting a sky-scrapper though! But I don't just want the Decepts' wasting stuff, I want it considered and schemed. What happened to them 'infiltrating' and getting Earth's nations to destroy themselves a bit before they swoop in for the big hasta-lasagne?
So, like rich, I'll be there to the end too. I'm excited 'bout the story, just hope it's done right. If it is done right, then it will be awesome! If it isn't, it'll be nothing short of a disaster for IDW!
