Loved it back in the day. Still wish their version of Dan Dare would get the reprint treatment.

32 more issues arrived today, which means I'm now at 449/505 overall. 1982-1989 is complete except for one issue (which is actually on ebay at the moment, but the asking price is a tenner inc. postage with no offer option. I got almost 400 issues for that much so I'm not spending that on one!)

Big one today - delivery of all the monthly issues at the end of the run, May 1991 - Jan 1994. 33 in all. These are the most difficult to get it seems, and I now have the final issue - 505 - in which the editorial does say, 'that's all folks, now go and buy 2000AD instead'.
This leaves 27 more issues to get: 26 randomly dotted through 1990 and one from 1989.
TQITQ!

I hope that you're able to find them all at a reasonable price. I'm mildly annoyed that I stopped buying Eagle around 1992/1993 and my parents subsequently put some of the issues into their garage, where they were eaten by mice. The lack of Eagle reprints from this era is also irritating In case anyone is interested, Amiga Addict #7 (a new UK-based Amiga mag) contains a feature on Eagle's Computer Warrior strip. shop.amiga-addict.com/amiga-addict-magazine

Managed to get all eight summer specials in one hit; they arrived today, nice condition. Ticked them off the list. I've also discovered in 1985 Eagle did a digest sized picture library book that lasted 14 issues and reprinted strips from Tiger, Lion and Smash! Like a proto-Treasury of British Comics. They have gone on the list.

Did they reprint Doomlord?

No, they're older stuff.
Having checked - The Best of Eagle (short lived monthly, lasted six issues in 1988) reprinted the first drawn Doomlord story - Deathlords of Nox - in issues 1 and 5. That covers the 24 parts that ran in Eagle from issues 79-102. However I think that's the same story that Hibernia reprinted in their Doomlord collection.

Doomlord is an amazing thing. Such a massive story yet it goes unnoticed. Three photo strips - 13, 20 and 18 parts, and then drawn installments from issue 79 right up to 395 before they started reprints. Quite a feat.

Run of 16 issues in for a few quid. 11 of which I needed. Close now. 16 issues from the 505 left to go, two Dan Dare specials and two annuals and I'm done.

Haggled over an auction that had been relisted several times and got a long run that covered the missing 1990 issues I needed pretty cheap. I've slotted them into the run, enjoyed evaluating where I had two of the same issue to keep the best. Now the runs are near complete I could even label the boxes so it's all looking neat and ordered.
ONE regular issue to go.
Which I actually got in an auction in October, but it hasn't turned up and the seller seems reluctant to try and help. So overall I'm now:
504/505 regular issues 8/10 specials 10/12 annuals
Definitely getting this collection sewn up by the end of the year.

After an oddly protracted story I now have the final missing regular issue, as well as the 92 annual. This one comic has been quite hard to get - it was only one of two missing from that original run of 370 odd I got, then I tried to buy it in October only for the seller not to actually bother sending it or reply to any emails about that, then a second attempt to buy it also looked like it had gone awol in the post but turned up today a week after the eBay 'due by' date (just as I was about to buy a third one). So I'm now:
505/505 regular issues 8/10 specials 11/12 annuals

I'm not going to stop! Currently the copies of those on eBay have far too high asking prices. One is on for £30 when it sells for about £3! I shall bide my time. I don't actually need them for another ten years anyway...

The rebooted Eagle is 40 years old next March, so once I've finished doing 30 Years of Transformers I'm planning a twelve year read of the Eagle. Jesus that sounds frightening. And here we are! Gosh how time flies. 40 years ago today the new Eagle launched. Here's what Lew Stringer said about that, err, 10 years ago: lewstringer.blogspot.com/2012/03/30-year-flashback-new-eagle-no1.htmlSo today I start a 12 year read-a-thon where I could well be dead before I finish! What a cheery thought. Last week I managed to add one of the two missing specials for a decent price, so I'm missing just one Dan Dare special for a full run. But I won't need that until 2031, so I'm fine for now.

Eagle reaches it's first half year this week, 26 issues down. I mention this only because a KP Outer Spacers comic strip advert caught my attention - lovely art. The strip is here: projectswordtoys.blogspot.com/2010/05/its-crunch-time.htmlIt's advertising some free battle fleet space toys (see packs for details), also shown in the article above. I vaguely remember these - may have had the one with the drill nose. This made me do a cursory eBay search to see if any of the toys have sold recently and what they go for, no luck, but good lord - check out what four empty 1970s Outer Spacers crisp packets sold for: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-Vintage-KP-Outer-Spacers-Crisp-packets-/354116613780£155!!!
