Sold! I'm peeved I didn't learn about Hibernia until after some of their earlier publications sold out, like the Tower King one.

Indeed. Me too. I was trying to work this out recently but I think I had Eagle from the start up to when Scream started, then when that was cut down Transformers started almost straight after. My Screams I still have, but the only Eagles I have now are a nostalgia trip eBay purchase of about half the first year's worth.

Ordered the Eagle Special.
I seem to have been too late for the Dracula Furman Scream Special though ordered House of Deamon instead. I used to have their Doomlord Special. It was great.

This week's 2000AD brings news that the Alan Moore strip Monster from the pages of Scream and then latterly Eagle is being collected into a trade this summer. Good news. Rebellion seem to be badgered a lot for reissues of stories from those two comics, but the reply about putting them in the Megazine trade is always that their own stuff is free to reuse. Hopefully this will do well and they'll consider other collections. I'd love to see more.

Ooh lummie.
I appear to have just bought 358 issues of the 1980s Eagle for a tenner and the cost of a round trip over into Sussex to pick them up.
RESULT!

I thought I'd dreamed that when I got up this morning. But no. Turns out I've got some cataloguing to do! Most of these are in excellent condition, a few look wrinkly from water damage, but for a tenner I can't complain. I'm going to enjoy sifting through to find out exactly what's in the pile! Note the Exciting News on the left. That was the last issue before the paper change to the 2000AD style on the right.

I remember that first issue sitting there. Not that actual copy obviously, but I do recall it strongly - sitting at the dining table reading that whilst my Father read his newspaper, while we both killed time waiting for the Journey Into Space rerun.
Ah, memories...

The EXCITING NEWS related to SCREAM! being folded into it.
It would be fab if Rebellion got the rights to the new Eagle. Ralph wants nice quality reprint tomes though Hibernia have put out a few things.

No, that particular EXCITING NEWS was that from next week you're getting four extra pages, but the paper's changing to bog paper quality and we're dropping all the photostories. But to make you feel better about that we'll give you a free spud gun.
Eagle started on Starlord quality paper but then moved to 2000AD paper after 18 months.

Been through the pile to sort and reorder them. The run is #1 (March 1982) through to #374 (May 1989) with only five issues missing. There is a run of 20 (#281-301) that are badly water damaged - super wrinkly, but most are tip top for their age. As good or better than most of my 2000ADs from that era. #206 gave me a smile. Dan Dare encounters a 'heavy duty worker robot' - seven months after the Robo Machines strip ended:

No, Robo Machines finished seven months before. I'll scan the pages and check the artist to see if it's the same one, but it's a perfect Cy-Kill. No changes to the model.

Continuing to grow my collection on the cheap. Just added nine of the ten New Eagle annuals, all bar the last one, for a fiver. Interestingly, when the box arrived, it also had the '79 Dan Dare Annual (the 2000AD one) and the '87 Dare annual too. Eleven annuals for a fiver! all in excellent nick - they've been kept in plastic bags.

I'm continuing to add to my Eagle collection when I find issues on the cheap. Today I received half of 1990, 26 issues, for a fiver plus postage. I'm keeping track of this; although I've ditched some duplicates along the way, I'm now at owning 416 of the run of 505 for a total cost of £44.05.
89 issues to go...
The rebooted Eagle is 40 years old next March, so once I've finished doing 30 Years of Transformers I'm planning a twelve year read of the Eagle. Jesus that sounds frightening.
