....catches theives overhead.....
Looking good Andy. I like the joints on Grimlocks legs, they just look somehow "right" to me.
I look forward to seeing the final version in due course (and thereby finding out where it fits into the story).

You do a mean Grimlock, Andy.
I'm trying to identify the chap on the bottom left- the chest could be Joyride or Sureshot, but with the head it could also be Streetwise. I'm going to say... Sureshot.

Thanks Karl.
That's the first page of Part Three. My handy WST Grimlock was used extensively for reference purposes today to make sure I got him right.

Ah ha h - I thought I detected a certain amount of toy reference in the artwork. You've very much done Big Grim justice though. The Magnus is looking decent as well.

I do prefer using toy-reference for my art as opposed to the Sunbow models. Though occasionally you do need to tweak them a little.

Top drawer. I love seeing good toy-based artwork (but without limiting to the toys' poseability).

Looking good so far!
As for Ratchet/Ironhide, I personally like the designs EJ Su came up with for IDW. Maybe you could swap the Chinese-model van mode for a British model?

That just looks awkward. Improved moulds altogether are the way forward in Ratchet and Ironhide's case.

My suggestion would be to work off of Ratchet and Ironhide as they appeared in Marvel Transformers Issue #1 in the Roll Call on the Ark.
They were still toy based - and personally I find the toy based Ratchet and Ironhide to be truly superior pieces of work. You just have to get over the urge to anthropomorphise them; particularly Ratchet. Think of Ratchet as a sentient medical drone.
Also - the proportions on the toy are actually very good. The shoulders in relation to the head are spot on, and the entire toy is not at all stuby - it only seems the way because we tend to imagine there ought to be a head protruding out of the top of the windshield frame - but there shouldn't.

I think the toy with the cardboard head works ok just when you draw it raise the shoulders to a sensible height.
Really like the Grimlock. Toy based artwork is good.

I might try that at some point but as neither Ratchet or Ironhide crop up in what I'm working on at the mo it will be a while yet.
