Most tv shows have songs now. But Transformers still doesn't! Should TF join the 21st century and put regular musical numbers in their episodes?

I see lots of 'no' votes with no explanation, is Phil cheating?
Let me remind you that Transformers the Movie was 90% songs!

What do you mean by songs? do you mean incidental music with words, like 'The Touch', or do you mean characters singing?

Or theme songs that don't feature variations on the Sunbow theme?

What do you mean by songs? do you mean incidental music with words, like 'The Touch', or do you mean characters singing? Either/or. Both. They should sing. Every other show has songs. Optimus Prime should sing while fighting Megatron. I am deadly serious.

That is exactly the reason why they shouldn't have songs.
Every other show having them is no justification at all.
Incidental stuff a la TFTM is fine, but a bit intrusive on the small screen, but as to characters bursting into song. NO CHANCE IN HELL.

What if Prime actually sung The Touch while fighting Megatron though?

It would be dreadful.
Like it or not TF does not suit that in the least in any of it's present or previous iterations.

Rescue Bots had a musical episode!
Also Carnage In C Minor totally should have been a musical.

Should have been. Thankfully was not. That episode is bad enough as it is.

It's not crazy, Rescue Bots did a musical episode last year, but we've never had a proper main show one, unless you count the Movie.

The difference with the movie is its long enough to allow for some indulgence.

The greatest TF cartoon series ever regularly had songs over its fight scenes, so I've had to go with yes.

The greatest TF cartoon series ever regularly had songs over its fight scenes, so I've had to go with yes. This is very true, some of those sequences are my favourite ever. As previously documented, I also LOVED the final episode of Car Robots where they played the Marionette song over the final battle, and was bitterly disappointed when it was replaced by generic tech synth grunge. When was the last time TF did a song over a fight in the West? The... movie?

The idea of songs with words as instrumental music is okay, although I do think the Japanese cartoons are of a slightly different tone which means that works, but characters singing? nah. That might work for things like My Little Pony, but not Transformers.

That might work for things like My Little Pony, but not Transformers. It would have worked with something like Animated, not for Prime, no idea what tone RiD is going for still!

I do see what you're saying, and I can see how something like that would work for Animated if you wanted to take the show in that direction, but it's almost like breaking the fourth wall and making the show self-aware, satirising itself, and I don't like the idea of Transformers going that way.
That sort of thing works in isolated moments for plot reasons - like those highly regarded musical episodes of Buffy and Xena, but they didn't do it every week and there was a purpose in the plot for the musical numbers. I think it just removes the show too far from what it's supposed to be.
