Steeljaw always felt like a renegade to me, rather than a potential leader. He was like the ring leader of a local posse, but not actually part of the Decepticon regime. I mean yeah that's true, but it felt to me (from what I'd watched anyway) that the show expected the audience to treat him as Megatron-level villain. Which he isn't. I'd agree with that completely. He looked great initially and was plugged as the new big bad, but because of the circumstance he is in in the show he was never going to match Megatron. For a start he's trapped on Earth with no real army, and another big factor is that he has to be Bumblebee's counterpart, so he could never be a 'big' villain. I did think initially it sounded like a great idea, but long term it's proven to be a rather limited one. I do like it though; there's only so far you can go with the villain of the week formula, but I find it amusing.

It didn't help that Steeljaw's toys were so bad. The one step, two step, tickly-under-there jobs were bricks, and the warrior was the worst toy produced that year by a long way. It couldn't actually stand up.

Hopefully it'll all kick off around the same time, but the site linked from that article is talking about Cartoon Network Eastern Europe.

The us get it 1 month before the UK - but we'll get the end of the series before they do so no need to worry.

From 3.8 we'll be getting it in the UK first. The US might be getting it a month before us but we see ep 3.13 a week ahead because we get 2 episodes a week not one.

We had the 2 month delay for the UK because the americans wanted the end of series (half way ep13 anyway) before the UK got to see it. But are they going to do the whole series or stick to the 13 then 13 in October?
3.10
the animators couldn't handle Grimlock doing Bumblebee lines.

TFW have a press release from Hasbro saying RiD is a 78 episode series, which adds another seven episodes on top of the current 26 episode season.
I thought seven seemed odd, but the numbers work. 78 overall makes three 26 episode seasons, or six 13 ep runs. Nice and neat, but it means another mini series ala 2.5 after the current full season. RiD's done well overall. Arguably better than Prime.

Last episode of the series was on 4/11/17 in UK about a week ahead of the US. But that leaves me with it being the first on a new DVD - going upto ep70 so far. So should I wait til the 2018 series ep 1-6 & place on DVD or fill it up with another 6 episodes? But I've only watched ep71 once but can't remember what happens - just the team split up after defeating Cycnous.

Been on a run through the second half of the last season. I do like this series, but I can't help but feel they're phoning it in somewhat on this last run of episodes. They just don't go anywhere. The backbone plot crawls along to no consequence and the individual episodes just aren't very interesting. There seems to be a move toward making what was already simple even moreso, with the only thing keeping it going the relationship between the characters.
The combiner gimmick is massively underused, with the reason for the main cast being able to combine coming down to 'because they want to' after half a season of failed experiments. Soundwave is introduced off screen by his voice early on, with the implication he will become the big bad, but when he finally does appear he looks shit and it happens with no fanfare at all.
The highlight is Menasor. Both he and Motormaster have really nice designs and the Stunts work well as a team, but again - loads of buildup with no payoff. They get sidelined with about eight episodes to go in favour of bringing back the first season cons. Steeljaw, Thunderhoof and co all come back to finish things off, but given they had nothing to do with the combining plot, or Soundwave's, it all feels bitty and directionless.
Three eps to go, but I don't see a big finale coming. Shame. Taken as three seasons together it's clear this series never really knew what it was trying to do.

Okay, so the last three episodes do draw the various plots together, but in a naff new character reveal 'ah ha! I was behind everything!' info dump that doesn't really satisfy. The two part finale is quite good, but by building it around a previously unsignposted idea it comes out of nowhere. A series that deserved a more fitting conclusion.
