Got a day off work and Mrs B has taken Baby B through to the in-laws so it's given me a chance to open some of my collection. I thought I'd start with MP-5, Destron Leader Megatron.
Anyone who recently bought MP Shockwave and is disappointed with it should immediately get their hands on this abomination, it'll make them feel much better.
First reaction upon opening the box is 'Wait that's not Megatron.' It doesn't look like him. The heads too small and all the attempt at light piping has achieved is to gouge a hole in the back of his head. The chest proportions are all wrong too, the pecs are massive and the waist is tiny. The arms are passable if you don't go near the comedy hands. They should've given him a smaller version of the sight scope for his arm cannon, it's almost the same size as the robot and looks ridiculous strapped to his arm.
The legs..... Oh, man. The legs. Anorexic. Flimsy. Horrible flappy hips. Terrible hollow ankles with zero effort attempted in disguising the alt mode parts.
The transformation itself isn't too bad. Or it wouldn't be if it wasn't for parts that keep dismantling or falling off. It's quite a clever transformation once you get the hang of it, some parts can take 2 or 3 (for 2 or 3, read 10 or 15) attempts to hold together while you fold the other bits in that they clip to. The 2 worst offenders were the back panels that go along the outside of the gun above the trigger and the legs panels that form the handle and grip.
Once it's in gun mode it looks the part. If you stay far enough away from it. Pick it up and inspect it and you'll see panel gaps, panels that don't clip correctly and others that don't look the right shape. Don't press the trigger too hard, it makes the entire lower half fall to pieces. It's also needs the shoulder rest and extended barrel to complete the look.
On the plus side, mines hasn't rusted yet. Honestly, I don't know what they were thinking with this. Terrible bot mode and an insufficient alt mode.
I'm undecided if I want to keep it in gun mode, what there is of it, or sell it and buy Apollyon.
