At the moment I'm cursing the release of a series called "Bill & Ted's Triumphant Return" for filling up one of my searches with stuff I don't want. Any Bill & Ted material will be put straight in a bin untouched! -Ralph

The Bill and Ted part of the title wasn't in my search hence my unhappiness at it's appearance.

I've got to take Ralph's corner on this. Never been that fond of Bill & Ted to be honest. There is one good moment, where they start to play with the mechanics of the films time-travel model which amuses me. The rest of it does nowt for me.

I loved them at the time, but have feared re-watching them since because, y'know, 1990s...

I first saw it in the early 90s. I took an instant dislike to them both stealing and taking the p!$$ out of the central concept.

Is this the place to mention the 3rd film is gathering momentum? Or is that what is meant by their triumphant return?

No there's genuinely a comic series using that name.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure is superb, possibly my favourite on-screen time-travel story. (The second film is so-so, but has some great moments.) Yes, the characters are idiots, but loveable idiots, and they somehow find ways of highlighting all the logical absurdities of time-travel in a way that more 'serious' stories avoid or gloss over with technobabble. And it's damn funny. If I had to choose between Back to the Future and B&TEA I think I'd have to come down on the side of B&T. And Doctor Who, I'm afraid, doesn't come close. Time-travel works better with idiots than with clever people, because they go with the flow of the universe's internal logic rather than agonising over it. "Ted, while I agree that, in time, our band will be most triumphant. The truth is, Wyld Stallyns will never be a super band until we have Eddie Van Halen on guitar." "Yes, Bill. But, I do not believe we will get Eddie Van Halen until we have a triumphant video." "Ted, it's pointless to have a triumphant video before we even have decent instruments." "Well, how can we have decent instruments when we don't really even know how to play?" "That is why we NEED Eddie Van Halen!" "And THAT is why we need a triumphant video." "So-crates - 'The only true wisdom consists in knowing that you know nothing.'" "That's us, dude!" "We'd like you to meet some of our... friends." "Yeah. This is Dave Beeth-Oven. And, uh, Maxine of Arc. Herman the Kid." "Bob 'Genghis' Khan. So-crates Johnson. Dennis Frood. And, uh, uh... Abraham Lincoln." "Can we get your dad’s keys?" "We could steal them, but he lost them two days ago." "If only we could go back in time to when he had them and steal them then." "Well, why can’t we?" "‘Cause we don’t got time." "We could do it after the report." "Ted, good thinking, dude! After the report, we’ll time travel back to two days ago, steal your dad’s keys and leave them here." "Where?" "I don’t know. How ‘bout behind that sign? That way, when we get here now they’ll be waiting for us. See?" "Whoa! Yah! So after the report, we can’t forget to do this, otherwise it won’t happen. But it did happen! Hey, it was me who stole my dad’s keys!" "It is indeed a pleasure to introduce to you a gentleman we picked up in medieval Mongolia in the year 1269." "Please welcome, the very excellent barbarian... MR. GENGHIS KHAN! This is a dude who, 700 years ago, totally ravaged China, and who, we were told, two hours ago, totally ravaged Oshman's Sporting Goods." I first saw it in the early 90s. I took an instant dislike to them both stealing and taking the p!$$ out of the central concept. They improved on it! Martin
