I'm looking to pay extra for a middleman for the BotCon exclusive Megatron from Roll Out Roll Call. Is anyone going that doesn't want theirs? I'd prefer to secure one that way rather than risk attempting to get on when the extras are sold on the 10th, in case a repeat of BotCon's situation happens.
Any idea how much shipping for an item of this weight would cost to ship overseas to North America? {Canada.} I'm guessing easily 30£? Is there insurance on that or tracking? I have a feeling this will cost me at least $300 US which would be 207£. I know the market price is higher than that but if the quantity of the run that RORC got is anything at all, the price should continue to lower.
It was the one figure I wanted from BotCon this year and I feel like a real idiot {It happens way too often. I also missed out on the Junkions.} for not being extra careful in securing one from my usual middleman who attended. I've been a little more sensible recently about relenting to market prices to some degree, but I'm still poor and try to get the best price.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Thank you for the welcome and the message about moving my post. I'm so used to moderators just deleting posts without notice and then having to guess whether it never posted and risk a 2nd infraction for reposting it.

To be fair Phil WILL just randomly move posts if you start talking about Blakes 7 or Rock Lords or cheese in the wrong thread

Does anyone know any other forums where Roll Out Roll Call attendees would be? I tried to search and didn't find anything yet. Just here and dead forums and news sites.

There's a reasonable UK contingent on TFW2005 isn't there?

Yeah, most UK forums have died for some reason. The biggest was Moonbase 2, for some reason they shut down and moved (?) to Fullmetalhero and then that site just... stopped. Apart from here, the biggest UK discussion is a megathread on tfw2005 www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-toy-discussion/373385-uk-toy-discussion-15529.html

I guess most go to facebook and other social media these days, or the big US sites.

The Hub is my one stop shop for all my Transformers needs, I've never seen the need to join anywhere else, really. Even before here I was only on the IDW boards and I think they've died now...

Quite right. Chatting on here is like a civilised Sunday afternoon discussion between friends in a quiet country pub. Other places with a UK presence are more akin to a Town centre Wetherspoons on a Friday night; you can't hear yourself think for the noise and there's a high risk of being vomited on.

Forums have not died out despite what The Internet proclaims. They are more of a niche thing but still have their place though it was natural that many of them would go to the wall with the rise of what is now referred to as 'Social Media' combined with mobile internet.
Forums (and newsgroups before them) flourished when they really were the only way to chat with people across the world about shared hobbies and interests. I see them as the vinyl records of online discussion: outdated, but still have their charm and can do some things better than the more modern stuff can do.

I see them as the vinyl records of online discussion: outdated, but still have their charm and can do some things better than the more modern stuff can do. This is very true. It's a generational thing mainly - kids don't know or need to know what forums are, in the way that people learning about the internet ten years back for the first time didn't know about or perceive a use in newsgroups. But in some ways it's very odd - I can't see how something like this, which has a wide variety of different topics contained in a well organised structure, could be replicated by social media. I run a forum myself, which has been online for sixteen years, and the users don't seem particularly interested in moving anywhere else.

Reddit has taken over from forums for a lot of things, but the transformers subreddit is pretty tiny compared to most I run a forum myself, which has been online for sixteen years, and the users don't seem particularly interested in moving anywhere else. Whaaaaaaaat. Now I must dream of what Pinwig's secret forum is. I bet it is a forum for wig makers for pins

It's a forum to discuss Pins and Wigs?

I really should have thought harder about that username. My life has nothing to do with pins or wigs. It was just the pet name of an old family dog when I was younger. It's a corruption of another word, but I can't even remember what that was now.
