I won't be, unfortunately. I was looking to go to my first TF convention this year but I've got that much on in the next few months that time and money (and probably Mrs B's patience) are too tight. I'll be stuck Glasgow Comic Con in September. Not very glamourous but it'll need to do for this year. I am confused. Glasgow Comic Con was last weekend. -Ralph MCM do one in September. I couldn't make the one at the weekend as I was working. Here's the details for the MCM one. www.mcmcomiccon.com/scotland/

Ah that's the 'comic con' which isn't actually about comics!

There is a comic village and most of the stalls seemed to focused on comics and manga. t's the same company that do London Comic Con and they're getting some Con exclusives this year so I'm hoping the Glasgow one will be better this year. It wasn't great last year, it's a horrible venue for it with no space between stalls. No major exhibitors and poor guest appearances. The guests announced for this year are already a bit better, most people will know who they are which is a start.

It just winds me up that what used to be called collector fairs now are called 'comic con' by default when the focus isn't comics. I have had very confused conversations with folk who don't seem to get that if you go to an event with the word 'comic' in the name it is not unreasonable to expect a focus on comics. I had a look at the website last night and the main advertised guest appeared to be a 'youtube vblogger'.
*pounds ground*
I went to this event in 2014 and had quite some difficulty finding comics and there were no comic guests!!!

'Whats your job?' 'Im a vlogger.' 'No, thats a hobby, whats your actual job?' Maybe I'm just jealous that I don't get paid to do it. I plan on starting a review and unboxing youtube page, there's not enough guys in the UK do them. There's still no comic guests announced yet but Sylvester McCoy has been announced, he's at least had a couple of big sci-fi/fantasy roles. The host of Storage Hunters will be there this year, no idea why. I'm not mad into comics as you all know but I've been going to sci-fi and collector conventions since I was knee high and they were held in dingy conference rooms at hotels and convention centres. Since the comic and superhero world became popular in wider mainstream, comic con has just become the generic term for this type of event and it's probably people cashing in on its popularity and appealing to casual fance while they can cos it won't last forever. I understand why it annoys people who have gone to comic conventions their whole life expecting a focus on comics. FP used to be one of my favourite shops in Glasgow. Now it's full of Pop! Vinyl and associated garbage aimed at your average person walking past the shop rather than the serious fan or collector. I nearly cried when I went in a few months back and a full wall of what used to be comics and collector grade premium figures had been replaced with Pop Vinyl figures. Collectormania seemed to be one of the bigger collector conventions in Glasgow and was always aimed towards sci fi film and tv but even they've renamed it Film and Comic Con Glasgow. Dunno if they'll have any comic guests there and there's none announced yet.

i personally don't like the MCM con's they are packed full of people and you queue for EVERYTHING, also autographs and anything costs a fortune usually!
Im basing this on the Sheffield one i attended a few years back for anyone that is wondering.
This is the main reason I love the TF based conventions, they are so chilled out and I meet lots of people who are so friendly and theres hardly ever any queues to look around, just short ones at the comic artists!!!! - which if you time properly you never have to queue.
From a personal perspective I also love the bar areas of these cons as I spent a good 20 minutes chatting to John paul bove last year over a pint and spent a good 15 minutes with Andrew Wildman where he was asking me about why id requested the pictures I had him comission, what had made me choose them etc!

My wife got me ticket(s) for the MCM Belfast comicon. It was held in a new place beside the former Maze prison, few miles outside of Belfast. Big venue hall by Northern Ireland standards. They had some artists from comics (Lee Bradley was there), mostly small press comic guys, some dealers selling toys mostly Star wars or Gundam. Lots of people dressed up as movie/comic characters, Replica game of thrones throney thing, Jurassic World jeep for some reason - the presenter of Storage hunters, the woman who voiced Pikachu, former Doctor Who, 501st Legion (Star Wars costume folk), lots of "craft" stuff for people doing their own costumes. Bit of a weird combination, it seemed popular enough.
On the original topic - Galvatron is whatever colour he wants to be. He is mad, bad and dangerous to know. He has his periods of Grey like Megatron and his periods of purple like Shockwave, but generally he is a dribbling insane bucket-head of death and cares not for the shade of crayola as long as his cannon is sparkly and lights up.
