Help!
I have a very important form to fill in asap. It downloads as a PDF but when I click on boxes so I can fill them in nothing happens. It is driving me demented. What do I have to click on so I can fill in the form. Opening it in Open Office turns the form into gibberish or when I click on it directly it opens in Microsoft Edge but I can't figure out how to fill it in!

You print it out then fill it in with a pen.

In general PDFs aren't interactive documents. I'd need to see the pdf itself to be 100% sure but I think it's likely.
Have you opened the pdf on a different device to see if it can be filled in there

You need to view it in the proper Adobe viewer, or an equivalent that allows form filling. Then you save it off and it should save your amendments. I think Foxit allows form filling.

I even tried in work with Adobe and could figure out how the **** to fill out a PDF on screen. I may have got so angry trying again at home that I smashed up the computer mouse. Still, got me outside for a bit to buy a new one.

In the past I have saved the pdf as a jpg and opened it in paint or similar and then used the test button.
But then you have a jpg instead of a pdf which may be a problem.

This pdf thing is idiotic. The online form you must print off and send by snail mail! It's like IT from 1998.

Something not right somewhere. You don't need writer to complete a PDF form. I've done loads at work and all my work laptop has is just the standard Adobe reader. There are two types - some you use the fill and sign thing to just write on, then some are properly interactive with boxes to click and fill. helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/filling-pdf-forms.html

I suspect the form's author thought they were creating an interactive pdf but then saved it as the wrong type.
Someone in my office had this problem last week as well.
