My brother was already planning to see Biffy at Leeds so I might join him. RHCPs in Birmingham is also really tempting.

Just listened to some Babymetal. That was not what I expected. But now I am going to have to try getting to Birmingham. Manchester would be easier but midweek. Ugh!

Finally got around to getting a ticket. Almost went for manchester when standing tickets suddenly reappeared, but I dithered too long and they went. Then the cheap tickets popped up and I again almost bought but then found id be seeing rogue one the next night in another out of town trip and I didnt fancy that to much with early starts all week at work. So I was back to sunday in birmingham when I found I was wanted at work monday morning. Thankfully some ridiculously side viewed seats had also appeared for the saturday. Plus side I m about as close to the stage as you can get in the tiered seats. I just wont be able to see anything.
also seeing biffy in leeds.
And the beach boys in Scarborough next may. Its the mike love version which I always said I wouldnt see, but if the weathers good the venue looks like a great place for some summery music. And almost local.

So seen Biffy and RCHP in the last week. Im having mixed feelings on both to be honest. Both were great shows, though the Chili peppers lead singer whose name I wont even attempt, seemed somewhat disengaged. It possibly wouldn't have been so obvious if Flea and Chad weren't so engaged with the crowd themselves. I think he spoke to the crowd like once other than to say goodnight.
But I wasn't quite feeling it.
Partly I think its just the difference between seeing a band I know really well (Springsteen) were even if I don't know a song Im sufficiently in to the sound to enjoy it versus seeing a band were I have a couple of albums but anything else all sounding a bit the same.
Last time I saw Biffy I had been regularly listening to at least two of their albums (they only had 3 or 4 out if that)and they were supporting The Foo Fighters and so it was a relatively short set playing mostly stuff I knew. This time with however many albums Ive never heard and a longer set I was lost.
Ditto RHCP Im basically a Californication and By the Way fan and I still haven't even heard their new album because the one Im supposed to get free with my ticket requires a code to download and I still haven't been sent it.
On the other hand completely blowing that theory out of the water, I had a blast watching Brand New and Baby Metal both of which i had never heard of before deciding to see each show.
I missed the first, Im not sure how long, of Baby Metal due to the line getting in to the arena, but they were fantastic.

i enjoyed Biffy at leeds although the sound was deafening. REALLY loud, RHCP is on Wednesday so will see what happens then.
Ive seen them before and Kiedis is usually a bit hit and miss with his interactions!

i enjoyed Biffy at leeds although the sound was deafening. REALLY loud, RHCP is on Wednesday so will see what happens then. Ive seen them before and Kiedis is usually a bit hit and miss with his interactions! Oh yeah the volume almost certainly didn't help with Biffy even the stuff I did know was hard to make out. I left my phone recording and bizarrely when I got home and had a listen it was far far clearer than hearing them in person. RHCP - I gathered this was the case, I had a quick look online to see what people were saying about the show and people seemed to be nothing but happy. The only complaint I came across was that a lot of those who made it to the front rows seemed to be there more for Baby Metal than RCHP, which I could believe. The supposedly restricted view seat I got turned out to be brilliant I was bang in line with Chad and the only bit of the stage I couldn't see was the opposite side of the drums which wasn't used. It wasn't quite as good for Baby Metal as they were set up a bit further forward, but it was still as close to the stage as I could have gotten. And had the added bonus of being right near the nearest exit to the car park so the show finished at 10.25ish, I was in the car by 10.30 and on the m42 by 10.40 which was remarkable. It probably helped that I knew the area so well from all those AAs, still I have never gotten out of a gig that size that quickly before.
