Do you think this Earth based series is having Optimus in every issue because IDW have had him quit lots of times.

Nifty! A red footed Optimus! It was young Nick who first made me aware of that being a thing.

Out via comixology today.
The good John Barber is back and Kei is looking like becoming my favourite artist.

Art was interesting as not seen artists work before and thought it nice enough. Not seeing the good JB.. everyone has still been dropped on their heads, the dialogue is silted at best and still punctured by eye rolling references to some cartoon 30 years ago.
As ever I give IDW TF comics a fresh shot a couple of times a year, but this is still a pass from me.

Art was interesting as not seen artists work before and thought it nice enough. I know the artist is a friend of some here but I'm sorry I didn't like the style. In particular I thought the faces were poor and a bit indistinct. It's me, I like my art clear and well defined and this didn't do it for me. Much prefer Milne/Roche.

I did think about giving this a try but one look at the art style put me right off, sorry!

Issue 2 is out today and we get an appearance from G.I. Joe's greatest member - Flint. Thus making it an excellent comic.

Dreadful you mean.
The GI Joe intrusion didn't do it any favours but the art is just really not working for me.

Enough with your anti-Flint bias!

Issue 4 out today.
Much improved by the Milne art, much clearer than the last 3 issues.

Nice to see Milne back on the interiors for a bit, but I love Kei's work so will be glad when she is back.

Oh yes.
I remember last year's Christmas Special being quite good, well the MTMTE portion at least.
Not sure I can see any MTMTE in this though, does look mainly Optimus (title) which makes me wonder why they didn't call it the Optimus Prime Annual.

There is no LL presence in the annual. It's basically one half Prime telling a story, one half Pastel Prowl telling another.

From the link above Megatron Origin #2 tfwiki.net/wiki/Megatron_Origin_issue_2At one point during the Clampdown, Scrounge was walking past Maccadam's New Oil House carrying some conductors. Post Hoc Not long thereafter, he could be found scrounging for trash in the deepest, darkest slums of Cybertron. He still has a special arm. How many others are like it is unknown at this point. Ghost Stories tfwiki.net/wiki/Ghost_StoriesBefore the war, Scrounge was begging on the streets and would often receive money from Bumblebee who insisted he not spend it all on Simultronics. When Bumblebee had a bad day at work, he was unable to give Scrounge any money. Spotlight: Wheelie tfwiki.net/wiki/Spotlight:_WheelieDuring the war, Scrounge fell in with the Autobots, but was on the list of warriors to be utilized only as a last resort, presumably because, like Wheelie, he's low on useful skills. (Besides his special arm, of course. There is, after all, no other like it.) Spotlight: Metroplex tfwiki.net/wiki/Cybertron%27s_Most_WantedHe was seen on the Orvus Base space station orbiting over Salvvatan VI, mere seconds before Sixshot ripped through it. Sixshot threw Scrounge through the main viewing monitor, presumably out of jealousy of his special arm. After all, he has six modes but nothing like it!

Got the email this morning from Comixology telling me the new issue of Optimus Prime was ready to download.
Realised I haven't read the last one yet.
Hmmmm. Maybe the time has come to stop buying monthly and buy in the sales.

Yeah, I subscribe digitally these days.
It's an okay issue, but I'm really only buying the book for Kei's artwork. The overall thrust of the shared universe is massive turnoff for me.
