It depends if you like your games to take ages to load with a large risk of failure. Am I remembering right that the data recorders in the plus 2 were dodgy out the box and needed their tape heads realigning? Nope. I had the 128+2A and in 8 years of operation before it was retired from active service I did not have a problem with the in-built Datacorder once! And I used it HEAVILY. See how Phil lies! Think you might be right there. I clung to mine until it just wasn't practical to keep using it. Didn't buy a PC until the early 2000s. Even now when GOG.com have sales, it's Amiga games I buy. Chaos Engine, Settlers, Alien Breed...
BBC micro for the nostalgia factor, but the A1200 for versatility and actual use as a computer.

I still retain my old Spectrum under the bed. Dusty as well and gave up the ghost a long time ago but I cannot bear to part with it.

Same! My BBC Master is in the loft. Doesn't work though. One day I will send it to a specialist for repair. Apparently things like blown capacitors can be replaced.

Mine had a desk. It is beautiful. The disc drive is in a bridge mount that sits over the top and also acts as a monitor stand. It looked THE BUSINESS. Oh! I found a picture. This is not mine, but it looked like this:  |
