In the normal flow of spacetime, we'd stop posting in a week's thread after the Sunday at the end of the week becomes Monday and the thread would slowly sink into the forum.

I have to say I find it confusing if the current week thread is not the one most recently posted in, on the Recent Posts page, and have occasionally posted in the wrong one by mistake when previous weeks have continued to be posted in, so I vote for leaving them alone once they've passed - though it would be better if that were done on a common consent/trust basis rather than by having to lock them to stop people keeping them alive.
