I got the new Eaglemoss handbook for Voyager yesterday after noticing it was down to near-half-price on Amazon and being in a bit of a Voyager mood lately. It's bigger and more comprehensive than I expected, a good few pages of LCARS panels if you're into that, and even sections on the room decor of individual characters.
I need to be careful reading it for spoilers, though...
Will be keeping an eye on the TNG and DS9 equivalents now.

Captain Sulu should be on the cover of one of these.

IDW's reprint of the Claremont/Hughes OGN 'Debt of Honour' arrived. It's very nice. Oversized magazine format.

Pretty sure that was the original size when it was released in the UK back in the day by Titan.

Was given the Dan Curry art book for Chrimbo. Very nice and quite hefty, like an art book should be.

Hankering after more Voyager, I just finished reading Distant Shores, the short story collection from the 10th anniversary that fills in some gaps during the run of the show. It was really good!
There were a couple of mediocre stories, but the best ones were great, one of them being Kirsten Beyer's contribution, so I'm going to embark on reading more of her Voyager work.

The 20-year novel continuity was coming to a natural end as new TV shows started coming out, which is fair enough and the books had started bringing to a close several of the ongoing story threads.
Then it was announced there would be a trilogy ('Coda') to finish it all off. Great, I thought. I assumed this continuity would then be parked in an alternate timeline (like the Kelvin films) or just quietly forgotten.
Instead, we got about 1200 pages of nasty nihilistic doom in which characters are eviserated in gory and horrible ways and then everyone not only dies but the whole timeline is retroactively annuled so none of the events ever happened.
That...is not how to carry your readers of a 20-year storyline with you. It's horrendous and nasty and not a pleasant read. The trilogy is well written and I can see the theme the authors were going for but...no. That was a dour slap in the face.
Just horrible.

So did this continuity come in in 2002 and sweep away everything that had gone before?

Yes and no. It was the start of making everything link up more but still retained previous elements, especially from 80's books. Some old characters recurred and events were referenced.
The 23rd century stuff is still continuing: everything that happened in the novels after 2373 has been retro-annuled.

Tempting! The things in there I really want I'd really want in HC, but good to own digitally as well. Only one I have is the Voyager handbook, and it's very nice.
