Thanks to the Guardian I finally own a copy of the original Godzilla. H+Must find out if it's the original Japanese or Americanised version.
The In-Laws paper donated me a copy of Time Bandits recently. I really must watch it, never seen it all the way through !

Does it have Raymond Burr in it? If he is in it - American, if not original Japanese.

Thanks to the Guardian I finally own a copy of the original Godzilla. H+Must find out if it's the original Japanese or Americanised version. The pedant in me wants to observe that there is an original "Gojira" and an original "Godzilla:king of the Monsters" and that they are creatures of very different stripes........ If you don't own a copy of "Gojira" in the original language then I would say that it is a must buy - the BFI DVD release (same print and subtitles as aired on Channel Four a decade or so ago) is well worth the pennies. An excellent presentation of arguably the best monster movie of the 1950's . Karl

I must agree. It is a genuinely great film, and very different from the Godzilla films that followed. The US hack-job is just terrible though.

I have to confess that luckily I have never seen the US hackjob. Which by all accounts makes me a lucky man and I too must endorse the BFI release of Gojira. What an amazing film.

As far as I can see it's just the main feature but the back of the packaging says it's been licensed from TOHO and the BFI so ....
Subtitles on from the start, just Japanese titles at the start
