Those are...fairly low numbers... Mind you, given that only one BBC 3 program made it onto the the top 50 Iplayer -viewed shows it does suggest that online streaming originals is not, currently the Beeb's strong point really.

I was wondering about viewing figures. Between the lack of advertising (at least that Ive seen) and the fact as much as I do like the show it doesnt feel like its going to appeal to its supposed target audience, I couldn't imagine it'd be high.
Though it could also suggest online only BBC 3 is not working so well.

It is also interesting to note that part of the reason they are giving is tone and content issues... So, their young adult series is one that needs to be squirrelled away in the same kind of slot that used to be conceived as for things that would attract 18 certificates on cinema release. It does amuse me to think that there may have been somewhat of a "did not get the memo" on the part of one section of the Beeb or another over this shows genesis...
But yeah, the fact that they are sending it to a post-news slot at some undetermined point in the new year does rather look like a "yeah whatever, shove it in somewhere and get rid of it". I'd be kind of surprised to hear about a renewal on "Class" at this point.

BBC 1 can't really devote a prime time slot to repeating a show especially when the complete series is available on iplayer. If the first episode does find an audience that missed it on iplayer how many of them go straight to iplayer and watch the rest there? They then have to justify a low rated show for another 7 weeks. If it doesn't the BBC are critised for showing a repeat that failed in the ratings. But putting it on late night is hardly likely to help find any extra audience. Basically a no win situation for the show.

Which is a shame because having finished the series I do think theres a good show in there. Its probably not a Doctor Who show though. Even Torchwood at its most "trying to be mature" period still sort of felt Who ish compared to this.
Class either needed a stronger link or no link at all to The Doctor.
YA was almost certainly the wrong target audience too at least for how the show wound up. On the plus side it did stop trying to be Buffy quite quickly.
I agree a second series seems unlikely as it seems to have zero buzz, but its apparently low ish budget, tied to Who and at least in theory has the YA demographic so its not impossible it'll be back. Given a bit (lot) of tweaking I wouldn't be unhappy about that.

Can anyone remember how many characters there are in this show? The Doctor was in ep 1 then I've watched the whole series but couldn't tell you how many characters that turn up because they are all so forgettable.

It does feel like the show has just been dumped. At some point the BBC clearly lost faith in it and buried it.

Live +7 figure are a week after broadcast though the less reported Live +28 are what the BBC usually go by.
The tiny mention of Class in this month's DWM reports the BBC1 run is for 4 weeks of double episodes. Looks like it's being burned through as quickly as possible.

If it's a burn through it suggests they are done with it.
Unless it was budgeted to allow a second series, in the same way Atlantis was.

It's not good times for the writer Patrick Ness. His film 'A Monster Calls' has been a huge box office bomb at the same time.

I thought that an odd choice for a film. The book didn't feel like film material to me. It's stupid because his Chaos Walking trilogy would knock all other YA post-apocalypse trilogies out of the park as cinema and should have been done a couple of years ago. What made A Monster Calls work as a novel was the emotional connection to Siobhan Dowd, it was her story about her cancer. In the literary world it worked, but as a film that resonance wasn't there.
