I awake from my afternoon sleep to find a text from Andu telling me that Steve Dillon has died. comicbook.com/marvel/2016/10/22/steve-dillon-iconic-preacher-and-punisher-artist-has-died/Doctor Who fans will remember him drawing the back up strips for early Doctor Who weeklies, but he went on to a long career in the industry including drawing some great Judge Dredd in the early to mid 80s (2 episodes of Block Mania, Trapper Hag, Cry of the Werewolf and sections of City of the Damned) which to my mind made him one of THE great Dredd artists. In recent years he'd mainly worked in the US including a lengthy stint drawing Marvel's Punisher and their Wolverine Origins series. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Dillon

Terrible to hear that. Daak, Dredd, Anderson, Custer, Castle. Steve Dillon has been a constant in my comic reading since the early 80s.

A real shocker. Talent artist taken well before his time.

He was a master at storytelling. A great loss.
Preacher is still a high mark in modern US comics.

He was indeed a masterly artist. He will be very much missed, and he has gone far too soon.

for me it was his work with Ennis that was truly special and exceptionally done. I know everyone will have their favourites but Preacher/hellblazer was and still are my favourite comics.

Good on DC that's a fitting tribute.
