Jonathan has dropped strong hints he'd like a 2DS for his birthday. He's very keen on the Mario bundle.
Now I'm not saying we've conceded on this but ......
Are then any other Mario or Pokemon games for the 2DS?

For Mario platformers there's also Super Mario 3D Land. The eShop has Virtual Console releases of Super Mario Bros. 1, 2 (both versions) and 3 as well as the two Mario Land games and the GBC version of SMB. For Pokémon there's Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire as well as Sun/Moon (out next month). Red/Blue/Yellow are available as Virtual Console releases.
The 2DS is also backwards compatible with the original DS cards so that makes the first New Super Mario Bros. available as well as Super Mario 64 DS. For Pokémon that means you can also get Heart Gold/Soul Silver, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, Black/White, Black/White version 2 and X/Y.
There's also a number of spin-offs for each.

2DS is just 3DS without the 3D screen. So it can play every DS and 3DS game there is. (It kinda irritates me they used 2DS as a name because that's what I called the regular DS to distinguish it from the 3DS) So as stated, it can play Pokemon Black & White, Black 2 & White 2, Soul Silver & Heart Gold, X & Y, Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby, and now Sun & Moon. Virtual consoles, as stated, give you access to GB Red, Blue, and Yellow, as well as Pokemon Bank which allows you to store pokemon in the cloud for $5 a year subscription. (If your subscription runs out, you don't lose your pokemon, you just can't upload more) And believe me, KEEP RARE/FAVORITE POKEMON OFF YOUR GAME WHEN YOU ARE NOT USING THEM. Bank also allows you to upload pokemon from the virtual consoles to use in the main games. It will be updated in january to allow access to Sun & Moon.
Sorry I'm a bit late to the table, but I just noticed this.
