Amazon Japan now ship toys internationally. Policy change a few weeks ago. American fans are whooping about it because the prices undercut BBTS. What's weird is that last night when I worked that calculation out I had no trouble getting Inferno right the way through to the final buy button with all the shipping and import tax worked out to my home address, but this morning it won't let me.
Just seems to be that figure. I've just pre-ordered MP Grapple for £28 cheaper than Kapow.
Works better for more expensive items. Legends Condor and Jaguar come to £39 shipped - too much compared to Kapow.
MP Cheetor is £62 at the moment, where Kapow want £70 plus shipping.

Would be even better if the exchange rate hadn't tanked, but this is a viable option for pre-orders now. I'm peeved about Inferno. I should have just hit buy last night. Maybe it'll change back once he's out.
I think that the policy change also meant a change in international shipping rates, it costs more now. But from my experience with MP Bumblebee it is fast. He was here in a few days.
It also won't help with mall exclusive figures I suppose. No option for Baldigus.

I'm wondering if an experimental pre order might be in order....

There's definitely a sweet spot, or it might just be that Masterpieces are cheaper that way. I was going to pre-order Leo Prime, but there's no benefit there. Seems you need an order around £60 up, so Megatron will probably come out very favourably IF the fact he's a gun doesn't cause problems.

Do they allow customs to be paid upfront like Amazon US do?

Do they allow customs to be paid upfront like Amazon US do? Yes, it's the same system. If you use Chrome as your browser it will automatically translate the pages. The prices I've mentioned include import tax and shipping.

Ooh. £19 shipped for TAV56 Nemesis Prime. I quite fancied that one.

There is something iffy about this. Yesterday I could buy TAV56 Nemesis Prime, today I can't. The day before it was MP Inferno - could buy it, then a day later couldn't. I expect when the time comes my MP Grapple pre-order will get cancelled. I don't think this is quite the revelation it appeared to be. It seems like when you put something in the basket and calculate the postage, it triggers a check on the site that then stops it from being orderable in future.
My tip would be if you've got as far as it telling you the postage and import fees, order there and then. If you dither like I always do and come back to it, chances are it won't let you order.

I don't think this is me being paranoid - everything I worked out costs for yesterday to ship to the UK no longer ships to the UK!

It is weird. I thought it might be the 'one item per overseas customer' policy, which is in the small print, and maybe a bug in the system that if you get as far as checkout to see the actual cost, it registers you as having bought it for some reason and blocks you personally from buying again. Haven't been able to check that yet though.
