Aye, I did mention that I completely forgot about Doubledealer, and I definitely feel shame for that.

Well, in the toys and cartoon it originally meant just Astrotrain and Blitzwing. Indeed, but they came out a year before the others, so it would do. What is interesting with those six as a group is the big difference in style between them. Their cloudy pedigree on the border between Diaclone and Hasbro originals means that although they share the same gimmick, they don't look like they're all from the same origins.

Well, in the toys and cartoon it originally meant just Astrotrain and Blitzwing. Indeed, but they came out a year before the others, so it would do. Indeed. But then surely if the precedent is set that the number of Triple Changers is not a fixed number (like the number of Dinobots or Constructicons or members of the Race Car Patrol _is_ a fixed number in 'G1'), then there's surely no reason to deny the 'sub-group membership' of 'Triple Changer' to TFs like Onslaught or Nautilator or Scorponok or Doubledealer whose Triple Changerishness isn't marketed as heavily as their more novel Head/Powermasterishness, or their combining team property. Agreed, and I continue to single Springer out as inferior to all the others and more on a par with Tracks or Scrapper in that he has a ground vehicle mode and a flying mode that looks largely the same as the ground vehicle mode but with something else stuck on top. In fact, I'd suggest he's inferior to Tracks and Scrapper in that he doesn't have an Earth disguise mode, and he's also inferior to Tracks as a toy in that Tracks can turn into a flying car even if you don't add the weapons above and below, but Scrapper and Springer need to have the wings/blades stuck on in order to become a flying vehicle.
