I vaguely remember them too, and the TMNT cars at around the same time.
Considering either Flipshot, Snout Spout or BP She-Ra next.

Man-E-Faces will be the next one for me. I have fond memories of the original. Snout Spout is a must as I have always loved his ridiculousness.

That is going to RULE. I acquired some more MOTU pieces from the boot fair and came across some mystery spare armour. After searching around I found it belonged to Disco Skeletor. What a repaint! Could he be the AM Thundercracker of MOTU? img339.imageshack.us/img339/3475/discoskeletor.jpg

Buh? I think it looks very professionally done: far better than what I expected for a fan production. I look forward to the completed programme in 2012.

I mean it is a documentry focussed on people being horrible to each other Just a taste thing I guess. I don't entirely think that you could make any other kind of documentary about Mattel without being somewhat less than truthful to be honest. That is just my impression of Mattie's corporate culture mind you. Karl

It is the story of how He-Man came to be. There's no other way to tell it.

Could. Not. Resist.
Ordered He-Man and Skeletor the other week. Then She-Ra. Then Hordak.
I am terrified at how addictive this line has become in just a week or so to me, especially as it's far from cheap! Zodak, Catra, Shadow Weaver, King Hiss, He-Ro, the entire Royal family, Teela, Evil-Lyn, Man-at-Arms, Battle Cat, Mer Man, Trap Jaw, Bow, the Sorceress... Hmmm, that is sadly not a short list! I must resist the urge to get all of them!
Incidentally, has anyone seen the scans (or at least a synopsis) of the new minicomic Mattel apparently gave away at SDCC? He-Man.org took down all links before I could see them. I understand why but since it was given away free seems a bit of a shame. Cheers!

They are indeed addictive, despite their frightening cost! But as least I feel I am getting something substantial for my money.
RE: the minicomic. That was a freebie promo for attendees so fair enough that it wasn't on the web. The main release of it will be packed in with Thunderpunch He-Man. I will buy that figure purely for the minicomic.

I could easily see myself buying this line, but the price is just too offputting, especially considering my current financial situation. £15-20 a pop, maybe at a stretch. But the £30-40ish that they seem to be? HO HO NO

Good point about the minicomic, Ralph. Hope they make a more affordable way to get a hold of them, though, as I don't plan on getting TP He-Man.
I think I managed to get some OK bargains online for the classics, Blueshift. Was particularly pleased and surprised to get Hordak for £16 just the other day! He arrived in the post this morning.

Oh ho ho ho and on that note, Mattel works hard to screw over their customers - buy a sub or you won't get your figures! www.he-man.org/news_article.php?id=2046This is a Mattel-wide thing rather than just a He-Man thing. How odd. I guess it makes more business sense to push the subscriptions above all else but it does discourage the casual purchaser.

Alas, it will probably be the only way unless someone decides to sell it separately on the Ebay. The line creaks by on the bare minimum funding. The 3 minicomics for 2012 only exist because one-off funding came from elsewhere. RE: Hordak. It is amazing! It was my first figure from Classics and hooked me on the line. RE: The sub/less figures for non-subbers. Not really a surprise: Mattel has been pushing the 'buy a sub' line to customers complaining of fast sell-outs for a while now. Alas, the sub is only for sale for 2 weeks each year. Mattel does not seem interested in casual purchasers for their online stuff. -Ralph

Yep, the following year's sub goes online for purchase for 2 weeks only* after the previous SDCC. Mattel then set the production numbers going off of the base line numbers of subs.
-Ralph *They sometimes extend it by a week

It could be worse. I just saw the video for Mattel's new Voltron figure.
Apparently the whole thing will cost $290 plus shipping and taxes. Well, I thought, I imagine it will be highly detailed and complex adult collectable with lots of articulation and maybe die-cast.

That looks very, very overpriced. Andy The only explanation I can think of given how simple and cheap it looks, and the 'one touch transformation' thing which no adult would care about, is that it was originally designed as a kid's toy to go on the shelves with the new show but no store wanted it, so they resolicited it as a high-end adult collectable figure.

I would not be surprised, considering the new show sneaked out with little promotion and no toys for actual children.
I do, however, approve of the 'jab a key in the bum' feature to make the legs move.

Yeah, I suspect that the Voltron is a case of recouping some of the investment sunk into it once they got cold feet over it.
They have probably narrowly avoided taking a major bath over it if they did back off from a mass retail release.

That video has really good music! Very dynamic and exciting. Doesn't... really... fit the toy being reviewed, though. It's rather plain.
$290 is about the price of a Botcon boxset, although that does include attendance at a weekend show with all sorts of panels and activities in the price, although although the Botcon toys are pre-existing moulds with maybe two custom heads. I imagine it's a similar sized run, though.
While I'm aware of Voltron as a pop culture icon, I can't say with any certainty that I've ever met a die-hard fan that would be willing to blow a week's wages (I can't imagine shipping is cheap either) on a big ol' chunky version of it.

(I can't imagine shipping is cheap either) Shipping AND taxes! And each piece would be shipped seperately as it is released. The final cost would be mind-boggling, probably more like $400!
