There's a G1 Galaxy Shuttle KO in the works for those that are interested in the mould, or prefer to know about these things so you can avoid KOs: www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/galaxy-shuttle-ko-incoming.1094807/Apparently it's being done by the same guy who did the Headmaster heads and the Browning KOs. The good thing about that is he modifies stampings on the mould and creates new packaging rather than replicate the original, meaning collectors who want to avoid getting KOs can do so easier. Also, I posted this on the TF board, rather than 3P/other board, to reach people who may not look in the 3P board but would be affected by KO versions of expensive old toys. If you wanna move it to the other board, feel free.

That looks good, especially if it's up to the high quality of those others.
Shame they didn't use that as an opportunity to include the shield though!!

The original Galaxy Shuttle is not a good toy though. I still recall the crushing disappointment I felt when I got to play about with one. -Ralph

There's crushing disappointment with a £500 toy and crushing disappointment with a £50 toy

I think that Nick (whose toy it was) was a bit more disappointed than I was.
It all paled into comparison with the day MIB Guard City arrived and within a minute we knew it was crap.
£50 is a lot of money to me, as an aside, so paying that for a toy I thought was poo would not make me happy!

I read that as it was currently in The Works (shop). I quickly realised that I had misread it.

I quite like the Brave retool of Galaxy Shuttle, where the bike component folds up and snaps onto the neck, and he has a heroic crest which folds out on his torso. Only ever had a junker body of the original Galaxy Shuttle, so I don't really have a view on that.

It's out now and comes with Fracas for some reason. Decent quality, from the same people who did the Japanese Headmaster set and the Browning KO. About £64 shipped from here: www.ioffer.com/selling/headmaster1987Be aware that paypal doesn't work, but if you buy one, just send the seller a message with your paypal address and they'll send you an invoice. I paid for mine on the 30th June and it arrived on the 7th July.

VERY tempted by this.
Been a while since I used ioffer: click the buy now button, wait for the seller to respond then send a message asking for a paypal invoice?
At what bit did Paypal not work? directly through the site?

Since the shield was never released it's a bit hard to knock it off!
I wouldn't say no to a shield though!

At what bit did Paypal not work? directly through the site? Click the buy it now and it'll ask you to pay straight away, if you choose Paypal it'll error page on you. But as soon as you've clicked on the buy it now you can message the seller via 'My iOffer' - 'Offers'. No need to wait for them to send you a message. They got back to me the next day when I bought mine. As for the shield, I expect they couldn't source one to copy. Only one I've seen in the wild is the robotpoints proto, which I wouldn't see him offering out for copies. Can't say I've seen the store giveaway one in anyone's collection, but I'd like one [much like Action Master Megatron's fusion cannon].

Copy, hence the KO in the thread title, but given how good his Headmasters were it will be as good as the original

Gun was a bit of a mission to get into its hand, but a little sanding will sort that.

This is a 3P product that is *identical* to the original?? Umm. Yeah. No one is saying it's a third party toy (well I mean it technically is), it's a knock off, that's what the KO stands for. The same guy did the headmaster heads. He changes the stampings so it's clear it is a KO and can't be mistaken for the original, and they have new packaging. Say what you will about KOs (normally I hate them so much) but that Japanese headmaster head pack was a public service!

No, which is why it's in this forum with all the other KOs

Apparently there are also Headmaster Warrior KOs around with the Takara stampings, caveat emptor if looking for originals. I do not know the source of the stamped KOs.

Have you got his Browning? If so, what's it like?

Post by Jaymz on Sept 23, 2017 17:31:34 GMT
Yeah, seems fine to me, but I've not handled an original. It was released in 2 colours [red or blue inners], so be careful what you buy if you want the TF coloured one. And be careful with transforming Browning, it can be easily broken if not done in the correct order.

But... but... it was not his material to reproduce. Which is why, legally it is exactly the same as say... Thunder Manus. But the trade in fake handbags and watches, where the term knock-Off originated from, involves - for obvious reasons - the duplication of a specific existing product and the term has become associated with that particular form of IP theft rather than the more general category. In essence it is used in the same way as counterfeiting. It is a distinction which doesn't make a huge difference in practice, in some respects it is purely not a matter of semantics. Not entirely though - as well as the general issues of IP theft that this involves there is also the issue of "passing off", i.e. creating a product which exists to be confused with one manufactured and sold by another part. Oh, and actually this may also be one of the rare occasions when patent law may also be applicable as well as copyright law! (Both are aspects of Intellectual Property law, but cover very different things. As does trademark law (*)). Depending on whether Takara registered any patents related to Galaxy Shuttle for Tomy to inherit mind you... Amuses me to realise that this is one of the rare cases where it could actually apply. Basically the distinction between these and the things that TF Fandom calls "Third Party Toys" is these ones have bonus extra legal violations inherent in to them. Which I suppose actually makes them distinct enough to form a separate category of infringing products actually. I'm side-tracking the thread aren't I? I apologise. I'd say "look what you made me do", but I don't want to end up in a legal battle with Taylor Swift... Hope the Laux-alaxy Shuttle lives up to expectations Phil. Having got the Brave version in the collection still I'm not sure myself whether it is quite £65 worth of toy on its own, without Thunderbike, but it isn't a terrible toy by any means so hopefully you will enjoy it. Karl (*) - this is how you can tell that large chunks of online fandom don't actually know what they are talking about when the subject comes up. They keep misapplying bits of one area of law to another. See the common sideline about whether Tomy/Hasbro have "registered the copyright in [whatever]" - specious, because copyrights don't need to be registered - they exist from the moment of a works creation. For example, I don't have to register a copyright for "Gymshoe", or "Platinum Angel Project". They all existed several weeks/months before anyone else saw or heard of them, just as Wells' copyrights in his Time Traveler and his Time Machine or Blyton's in Timmy the Dog).

Sadly I have some issues. All the gun peg holes are too small: experimentation confirms too small holes rather than too large pegs. Advice on enlarging them? He also feels a little loose round the hips and thighs.
Never noticed the lump in front on the Front of the neck before.
final judgement will wait till I've had the engineers in to fix the holes.
