Roberts can get out of the feedback loop he seems to be trapped in with (some of) the online fandom and Lost Light will reach the heights it should. #1 was good, but it seemed to me some of the elements that were dragging MTMTE down were still very much present

I compromised on Snarl, the tail hinge is broken at the waist so it lies against the floor but it spends most of its time in dino mode so it's not a big deal.
In fact, I've just remembered I did buy Sludge but I want to replace him as his legs are that loose he looks like he has rickets.

I can say with near 100% certainty that Toyfu acquired a Sludge before Christmas that is in better condition than any Sludge I have ever come across loose. Not a floppy joint anywhere and I dont remember seeing a blemish or bit of chrome wear on it either.
I was geniunely dumbstruck to a stupid degree by just how nice it was when I came across it.
We also have a Snarl thats not far behind Sludge and a couple of Slags in excellent shape too. (and non Dinobot related a perfectly white unpaint-chipped getaway that looks like it was only removed from its box yesterday having been stored in a darkened climate controlled room for the last 29 years. )
Less luck with the Grimlocks so far.

I shall enter the competition to gain the Toy Fu Sludge and Snarl. It will be difficult I fear. I still cherish the Toy Fu Kup I got at the last Southampton RORC. Flipping fantastic condition he is.

The lot the Sludge and Getaway came from is amazing, I've seen the pictures.
Not quite as mind blowing as the boxed lot which was acquired last year (year before?). I can remember Nick unpacking a suitcase with it in all over my floor!
Now that had an amazing Grimlock in!

The photos didn't do them justice, they put my childhood transformers to shame and I was generally pretty careful. But Nicks Suitcase was pretty special. |

Alright then, let's see how I did... I'm hoping to survive the year! Well, the year's not over yet, and given I'm travelling back to Scotland today, in the snow... stay tuned to find out! (This better not be my epitaph...) A resolution, though... To buy less Transformers. I'm going to Singapore in a month's time and already I'm coming back with Lord Scorpion, Rioter Despotoron and CW Scrounge + Accessories. Er. Oops. Slight fail there, I fear. I mean, less eBay purchases of old shit this year, but considering I also bought the TFCC Pretenders... yeah. Don't think I saved *that* much. I need to be saving my pennies for other things. Like helping to bring the little collecting artifact from Singapore to this country a bit more permanently... That at least was one success. :-) |

HOPESHasbro continue to use Generations to provide updates for as many 84-87 G1 toys as possible. The MP Coneheads are reissued through some avenue that makes them cheaper (Like the impending Starscream one at £110). Trypticon isn't a disappointment. Takara throw another MP curveball like Shockwave/Megatron and do Astrotrain, Blitzwing or Springer. 2/4 I suppose. Generations is still giving us early years updates and Trypticon was cool. The Coneheads weren't reissued, but through the various sales this end of the year it was possible to get them all for less than a hundred each. Problem was, all three at once for that was too much. Tick one, it may have done here as things got less easy to find, but it didn't in America. Tick four - Slugslinger just about stretched it to six. Forthcoming Masterpieces seems to be very very quiet compared to the last few years where we've had several monthly releases at the start of the year. I have downscaled my buying this year big time. I was looking at coming in at half what I spent last year, but got excited by having made such a big cut and spent a load in December. Still well under though. I haven't subbed to the partwork. I have re-read the IDW-verse from the start as far as Volume 8 of the Complete Collection hardbacks. No time to write fiction, Sunbow Sundays took all my spare time. I have two days in which to combine Devastator. |
