Picked up Unreal Tournament - the original one - from Steam for less than the price of a cup of coffee in the sale. Having so much fun with it. Sure, the graphics have dated badly, but given that I have been around since almost the first first-person shooters (didn't play Wolvenstein 3D so I am slightly off being their at the very beginning) that is nothing new to me.
The gameplay is marvelous though - smooth, fast and hectic with an immediacy which is very moreish. It is a pleasure to see an old game hold up so well.

UT is the greatest! I had so much fun with that back in the day, both single-player and multiplayer on the LAN at work back in 2000/2001 (we would usually down tools at 5:30 for a session. Good times).
I've occasionally picked it up since, and the gameplay is easily good enough for today, and the level design up there with the all time greats (Deck 16 is especially good for deathmatches).

I had it on Dreamcast because it was better than Quake 3 which just forced you into multi player instead of letting you explore. The whole you need to run & kill & not have time to find where everything is - but Quake 3 the whole level was just the same on both sides. Halo levels do suffer from that too, if they where more like the game levels.

I'd forgotten until I replayed it that it is the map that taught me to snipe in videogames. It has a perfect sniper roost over the main room. Sitting up there picking off Bots whilst they get distracted by the melee going on around them remains a joy. It is also great for tearing around in a fast orbit with the Flak Cannon, hitting and running against targets of opportunity. I'd forgotten how much fun Capture the Flag is on Facing Worlds as well - a mostly open map that brings out the daredevil in even over-cautious folk like me. Karl
