Then with postage he's about £30. He's the one I'm least interested in though. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

He's the most problematic to date.
He's still a partsformer. And I don't mean in that you disconnect his tires and attach them to his shoulders. While his engine is now (thankfully) fully integrated, his handlebars are not. They're little (but visually significant) things that you plug into his motorcycle mode, and go absolutely NOWHERE in robot. There's something kinda hinky about his torso that I can't remember ATM (it's something that bothers me, but might not others?), and his tires fall out of his shoulders if you look at them funny, because they do not plug in securely at all.
His release was delayed for quite some time because they felt he was very flawed. If they feel he's been improved enough to release him now, then I shudder to imagine how bad he was.
Full disclosure: I may be overly critical of him because he's one of the ones I needed to be perfect. I've always loved his overall design. I felt those wheels on his shoulders are as iconic to Gobots as Starscream's wings are to transformers. Leader 1, Cy-Kill, Turbo, Crasher, Smallfoot, and Cop-Tur are to me guys and gals that need to be perfect. Guys like that cement mixer? Not so much.

Oh yes I remember reading that about the handlebars. Why the c*ck would that ever need to be a thing that happens? ?

I think it maybe so that it can be show accurate - from what I can see the show model for "Revenge of Cronus" doesn't have handlebars at all, in humanoid or bike mode.
Karl (*gets distracted whilst looking "Animation Bikes" by the AD Police and BGC stuff and takes twice as long as it should to look this up*)

But handlebars are tiny, and they could always fold up or something! Also liberties have been taken with the others, and the Cy-Kill guy was not a big player in the anime (that would be Screwhead and Fitor who are the main guys)

I do think there's an awareness of the Gobots going on in their selection process. Granted the only thing I know about Machine Robo is that there are different important characters from Gobots. And some of the character choices in this line don't make as much sense for MR, but they do when you factor in Gobot collectors. If this makes any sense.
I mean Bike Robo is a nothing MR, but as a Cy-kill, he's as iconic as most transformers.
All that said, yeah. The handle bars either should have been integrated, or ignored. Looking at the animation model, I don't think they were removable for show accuracy. There's very little about this figure that's accurate to the animation model. It is highly toy accurate, though.

I mean Bike Robo is a nothing MR, but as a Cy-kill, he's as iconic as most transformers. Oh yes, that's most of it I think! Eagle Robo and (it looks like) Snoop even were molded with faces which then had to be covered with toy-accurate faceplates. God, I've been watching the anime and I can't even recall when Eagle Robo showed up for more than a second. That said, Drill Robo was in the first wave, but you'd have really expected to see Blue Jet there early, he's one of the main guys!! And we know they've designed him. Bike Robo was part of Land Commander 5 though, so he's not quite a 'nothing' character and got quite a few moments near the middle of the series. No Sara Scooter though. For shame!!!!!

But you just said above my post that bike robo was not an important character. When I use that info based exclusively on what you said you say I'm wrong? I'm confused.

Oh right, gotcha. He wasn't a big player, but nor was he a nothing. He was a mid-tier guy. He had a few decent scenes but was mostly in the background, think your lesser series 2 Autobot or combiner limb.

Well that's generally my definition of a nobody/nothing. Stands around in the background, and beyond a "15 minutes of fame" scene, contributes nothing.
So we're talking about the same thing, just misunderstanding terminologies.

Cross-posted over here to discuss away from all the legally dodgy robots:- I really like the look of Blackbird Robo - honestly I think that is probably the best attempt I've seen to get a humanoid form out of an SR-71. That's going on my list to go after once I get myself a new job and associated income. Shuttle Robo is looking rather darned good as well. I like the "stretched" look of it in shuttle mode - not quite "real world" accurate but it actually works visually. Red Jet doesn't look to bad, but now that I see a coloured version of Blackbird robot I do think that is overtaking it in my estimation. Whatever the huge great thing with the recoilless rifle is I do admire the attitude that says "hah. I'm sick of all these little pew-pew lazors which do nothing. Also, aim? I'll just point this in the right cardinal direction and watch the pretty fireworks." :-) Not sure what to make of the "pile-of-parts-pretending-to-be-a-missile-vehicle"...thing...though. Karl

The thing that irritates me about TFW network galleries from displays and shows is they're completely biased to the photographer's interest. "Let's take twenty photos of this one thing we've seen for months!" "Eh, I guess I'll snap a lazy image of this other thing I don't care about."
I'm not saying that's the case here, but some of these reminds me that they're very steeped in that mentality over there.

I'm thinking these three don't have Gobot counterparts? Edit: And Chromedome is doing his best orange faced Donald Trump impression, lurking menacingly behind that one guy

Pro Truck Racer and Tough Truck were only realeased in Japan, the two-vehicle combiners were released in Europe Here's the combiner: counter-x.net/gobots/reviews/robo_machine/jet_transport.htmlThat's a super weird choice. The Tank transport had a massive role in one ep, the Jet Transport.... didn't. Unless he pops up much leter in an ep I've not seen yet. Pro Truck Racer and Tough Truck had huge roles in the mid-point of the show, so their release makes sense, though will probably mean zero to most US Gobots-centric buyers.

I think that's Pro Racer Truck!! What a dude! Thanks! I figured that as our resident "Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronus" expert you'd be likely to be able to clarify that. I do like the look of him - he has a sort of "pleased with himself" expression somehow that makes me envisage him going "heh heh heh" happily as he hefts the recoilless rifle. Karl

Ok, yeah - having a random "wasn't in the show" does seem a little odd. Especially in a line at this price point and marketed as an anniversary thing. Well, in fairness it is a Machine Robo line, rather than a Gobots one, so it does make sense to go for characters who were significant in the MR show. (I also don't really view it through a "Gobots" lens so that factor doesn't really come into my thinking at all). Karl

Man, this both a benefit and a drawback to the gobots being so heavily and viciously shat upon for 34 years straight.
Imagine someone discovering "Hey! The Omnibots were totally a thing Coca Cola put out as a mailaway!" and no one knew about them.

Bought Machine Robo Leader-1 the other day. Bot mode is a little bit 'meh', the head is laughably small and there may be an issue with the legs because they seem to have a tilt to them. Transformation is exactly what you'd expect, takes a little bit of fiddling to get the panels and tabs to click in but nothing major.
Alt mode looks spot on but it's too plain as it just feels like grey plastic rather than painted. Plastic has slightly cheap-but sturdy feel of a click together kit. Couple of nice accessories and the display stand with it is a nice touch but really doesn't feel stable with the jet mode.
It's not bad for £30.

Hmm.. That bit from the Allspark which you quote suggests that the new Blackbird Robo has been released. Is that the case? I am only asking because I hadn't noticed it in stock anywhere and I am a little ashamed of myself if I missed that.
