Does anyone collect older toy lines other than Transformers? I mean actual 80s/90s toys as opposed to something like the current wave of Ninja Turtles. I used to have a fair number of Thundercats figures and vehicles, but they eventually got sold to fund Transformer purchases - same with all my original Star Wars figures. I'm just curious to know if there are hubbers with a passion for toy lines other than Transformers from the 'old' days, as they all now seem to be ridiculously expensive to buy.

Other than the occasional He-Man or Playmaates Star Trek tat figure, nope.

Speaking of Star Trek, I went to a car boot today. There was a sealed playmates figure of Wesley's alien friend, though it had been trashed to hell and looked like it had been flooded out. I assume it wasn't worth picking up?

Ive kept my Zoids collection that started in the 80s continued throught Zoids 2 and was topped up with some UK and US releases around 2002. Bu I haven't topped it up since.
Transformers was the only toy line I ever really collected even back in the 80s. I went through phases with others, for a year or two I'd get some MOTU then for a while some MASK, then Defenders of the Earth, then TMNT and finally some WWF. But Transformers were the only thing I continually got year after year. Well and Zoids but in such small numbers as not to be comparable.

They can be, it seems very random. But at this point 100% complete with no breaks or battery leakage must be getting rare.

Aside from the odd old Star Wars figure, no I am safe.
Space precludes me going down the tempting rabbit hole of MASK and Thundercats...
FOR NOW.

Phil still has his original SW from when he was younger. Other 80s (and earlier) toylines I have indulged in: Micronauts
GI Joe/Action Force - although most of my Joe vehicles are recent reissues
Masters of the Universe - bought a few vehicles some years back. Attack Trak is AMAZING
Zoids - have a couple of the Original European Release but am mainly a New Japanese Release person

Thinking about it I did have a few Zoids. Not kept hold of them though. All my Zoids are still up in my parents' attic somewhere. I don't think they're really worth much are they? Not really, no. The 2000s reissues made it easy to get most of them. Certain European releases - Hellrunner, Zaton & Zunder - weren't individually re-released earlier this century and are worth a little more. And the ones that were recoloured and swapped sides - Mammoth, Krark, Sabre, Gorr and most of the later smaller ones, have a certain collector value. But you're not talking anything like the value Transformers have. There's a Zoids thread at tmukhub.proboards.com/thread/508/zoids but there were more posts on older versions of the forum when there were older kits available. Th Kaptain and I are big fans. And if you've never seen it you need to see the Zoids cartoon series.

I still have quite a few old 80s toys left; all the TFs, 99% of the Action Force, the one Thundercats figure I ever had, a few assorted bits and pieces from other lines and some things my little brother passed on to me when, unlike me, he put away childish things... As for collecting them, I went through a phase of picking up some vintage Lego (80s Castle and Space) either to replace the collection my parents sold off while I was at University or sets I coveted as a child but couldn't get for whatever reason (Space Police! Blacktron!). I sold off a lot of that before moving to Berlin, keeping a few key sets for nostalgia's sake and to share with my daughter. I also had a phase where I picked up a few sealed red & yellow package Action Force vehicles like the Cobra CLAW, which as I glance to my right I see on the top shelf as yet unopened. I must get round to that. -Jim

i have ALOT of old lego from when I was a kid, mainly castle and space stuff tho I think that's from early 90's technically.
I buy the odd star wars figure mainly if I like the look but its always really been transformers for me!

I do not, I buy figuarts and nendoroids but they are modern figures. I am getting more and more tempted to pick up some MASK and Centurions lately though, as well as Gobots puzzlers.

I'd love some Centurions but they're bloody expensive complete. I've just bought the mini series DVD for some half term fun.

Aside from TF, I still have a handful of TMNT, Some Bandai Godzilla's from that era, and of course a couple of X-Bombers. But I don't exactly go out of my way to collect anything.

I have the complete Bucky O'Hare collection but that's early 90s.
Got a load of vintage WWF figures and I find myself enjoying them with their simplicity and gimmicks more than I do the modern Elite figure which have the perfect look with all the accessories and articulation. Ive also got the original blue ring and announce table.
I pick up the odd bit of He Man stuff but I prefer the modern Filmation releases.
Same with TMNT, I prefer the modern stuff.
There's some MASK stuff I had when I was younger that I've always meant to get again but from what I remember most of its bulky and I don't have the space now.
And I've always meant to start collecting the Dino Riders stuff again but it's extortionate to get the Dinosaurs in decent condition with their attachments.

Finally got one of my 80s holy grails. A Dino Riders boxed and working Diplodocus with majority of the accessories and most importantly 2 complete carrier pods.
Wasn't cheap but I've always wanted that and the T-Rex since I was a kid.

I have a similar pining for Thundercats toys, and I bought a Mumm-Ra to dip my toe in the ocean. I've come to the conclusion with those that the villains actually look okay in their original 80s toy form, they're quirky and unique, but the Thundercats themselves really aren't very good.
This week coming is 30 years since Thundercats issue 60, the format relaunch issue when the strip dropped to six pages and they brought the text stories in.

That was when I dropped the title. It became poo. I seem to recall a relaunch further down the line when I came back for a bit but it was even more poo. I suspect the dumbing down of the comic along with the format changes is why the title is strangely unremembered among Marvel UK titles despite having a healthy run.
