I have been studying every day for the last three and a half weeks. I have a further two weeks before my exams start and I will be studying right up to then. I have my notes in front of me now. They're about the use of bullrushes to remove organic contamination from groundwater. There are worse fates than yours, Gav -Nick

Today I had to finish off another persons job at work today and I picked up a knife ready to cut the cooking bag off a piece of ham and looked at it. 'This isn't sharp' I thought to myself and ran the blade across the palm of my hand to prove my theory ... and discovered the knife was razor sharp. Fortunately, it was only a surface cut and not a deep cut but it learned me a lesson never to prove any such theory of mine on my hand again.

You should always uses other people's hands for testing such theories. Also for testing if the hob is hot.
S'been a rough few weeks around these parts, due to a death in the family. My grandfather died recently after suffering a stroke and heart failure brought on by diabetes. He was a grand old age of 84, though, so had a good run.
After a 9 hour car journey to Lossiemouth (on the coast of the Moray Firth) Coben was treated to a few walks on the beach and we were overjoyed to discover he loves water/swimming!

He was a grand old age of 84, though, so had a good run. My condolences Graham. And apparently loves extremely cold water (this time of year it'd still be extremely nippy in the Moray Firth I would think). Had an up and down start to the week - spent the best part of Tuesday laid up with some sort of space lurgy. Tried to go into work in the morning but soon realised my error - called in sick, went back to bed and then woke up at 12:15 - with no recollection of actually going to sleep. Feeling a lot better today - back to the grindstone at work. But fortunately both this week and next are short weeks due to annual leave and the public holiday. Trying to decide if I want to go to the Festival thingy in Falkirk, which I think is this weekend, or whether to dodge all the street theatre nonsense and the bands I don't like and go and see a film with a bloke in a metal suit fighting villiany with repulsor rays.... Or yeild to sense and paint my hall, which is in need of it. Karl

I really must play Bioshock at some point. But as I would need either a new PC or an X-Box360 I doubt that it will be happening any time soon. Ah well - back to the "Deus Ex" duology for my open-ended, thinking-blokes shooteryness for me. Karl

As part of the run-up to the counselling diploma 10,000 word self appraisal of doom, we have to do consultations with tutors and as many students as wished re: fitness to get the diploma (it is a licence to practice, after all). I had a bit of a mindfart though and scheduled 17 of the bloody things. 10 of which are back-to-back tomorrow with no break. Silly, silly Ralph.
I am going to be a zombie by Friday night, which is supposed to be a night out for Burns. Oh dear.

And you didn't even take the opportunity to make a blood oath with anybody? Feeling good about ditching my old, semi-functional, un-used PC, and the flatbed scanner that is incompatible with later PCs, and replacing the clunking great CRT monitor with a more energy-efficient and less space-consuming LCD. Nice to reduce the number of electronic machines in my little house by two. But it does mean that I can't do scanning any more until I upgrade my printer. No rush for that. My condolences to Graham. Don't forget to vote, everyone! (If there's an election where you are.) Martin

Hope everyones' studying and uni stuff goes ok.
I'm a very happy chap. The new figs being announced, not least of which is my beloved Titanium Prowl, has had my fan-bean doing acrobatics! (not to mention MP Thundercracker, new Classics, Titanium Skywarp and Grimlock etc etc etc). I think it was Karl in another thread who said 'bout he huge variety of stuff comming out. Spot on! We're gunna be swimming in new, great figs! Something for everyone! Oh happy days!
Had lovely coupla days wi Piglet. But they are dangerous these toddlers, aren't they Phil? Piglet stabbed me in the leg with a pen the other day (no damage, through jeans). I love the 'concentrating' expression toddlers have when they're doing something/ striving to reach something etc. Little Piglet puts on such a cute determined face! Ah bless.

I did my first shift on the Rapid Response Vehicle yest (Ambulance car). We use Zafiras. Damn they're FAST! YEEEHAAA! Bit scary how less visible you are in a car as oppose to an Ambulance. Folkes don't see you as soon! Geta have your wits about you! I don't think the siren's loud enough. Gotta have a loud siren! Bin wanting to get on the car for ages, but they couldn't train us cosa funding. Back on Ratchet tonight though, playing with the drunk little boys and girls...

I had one of those 'reality has altered when I wasn't looking' moments this afternoon. I had my folks over for tea and scones*. My father suddenly began accurately naming the Marvel Comics figurines on top of the TV. "That one is the Silver Surfer. That one is Captain America," etc, with no hesitation! I may have to check if he has been replaced by a Skrull.
-Ralph
*All of you, you must try Sainsbury's 'Taste the Difference' Cornish Clotted Cream. It is amazing. Put it on scones with the jam of your choice. Go on.

Somethings up with my mouth - everything tastes funny - all sort of peperry and smokey. I went all through the meal tonight asking Liz is it tasted different to usual and she said no. So I know it wasn't the food.

Unless it was a double-bluff I guess.... You should take heart that your father has learned something from you. You have passed knowledge on to him. I seem to have spent today going back and forth to the shops for things as I ran out of them (white spirit, gloss paint, masking tape etc). I've been painting the woodwork in my hall in preparation for doing the emulsioning there and in the kitchen in due course. This meant first getting past the broken padlock on my shed - cue hammer and screwdriver to separate rusted parts. A rather bitty day but worth it in the long run. I don't think Clotted Cream is going to be an option for me in the near future. I seem to have put on a half-stone or so in the last few months, and and I'm not happy about it. Brisk walks and more salads beckon for me in the near future until I am back down to where I want to be. Karl
