Yes. And you needed an Intervention. I will find out later what Bad Thing Phil has done and stand ready to pass judgement. -Ralph You need to note I was requested to provide the material in question, at short notice and as an against the clock game.

Have we had the theory that Charger was supposed to be Action Master Slag? Same motto, same function, same personality, identical tech-spec numbers except speed which is out by one, and I can imagine him as Slag if he was painted in Dinobot colours. Guessing they swapped the allegiance and colours at the last minute. Plus if there had been AM Slag then the AM Dinobot trio would match the G2 Dinobot trio. Martin

You're right! Slag had horns and Charger's AM partner has a horn. It simply can't be a coincidence.

I'm not seeing the resemblance. A copied profile does not a Mad Theory make! I'll admit that's the flimsy part of the theory, but the head does not look un-like Slag's head, and classic characters did tend to lose all their unique body parts when they became Action Masters - Snarl lost his tail wings, Tracks lost his hood, so you'd expect Slag to lose his head and horns. ALTERNATIVE MAD THEORY: The Take-Off mould was intended for Slag. Better match for the shape of the limbs. Martin

With windows between them, and the shape of his shoulders, he looks like a boat, or sub.

All these new AM figures that look like they could transform into something.. Are these Missing Transformers from Hasbro's early design stages?
After all we know from the Missing Boxsets, Targetmasters and incomplete Micromaster sets they have plans they often curtail to thwart collectors!

Don't be daft. This is clearly meant to be AM Swoop. Look, his partner has wings! Ah, but you can't go by the partner. Action Master Snarl came with Tyrannitron, the T-rex. Also, partners could have been swapped at the last minute. Martin

Okay Phil (and others). I need a mad theory - in Phil Land, all new characters are actually old characters. Who would Action master Over Run have been if he was an existing character?

Over-Run's head sculpt has a whiff of 1984 Bumblebee about it. Maybe AM Bumblebee with his silly Sunbow head is an imposter! Or at least he got the wrong head... Both Over-Run and AM Bumblebee are partnered with helicopters, after all... Or maybe Over-Run was supposed to be AM Goldbug and his helicopter is an upgrade of Bumblebee's Heli-Pack! WHO CAN SAY. Mad enough for you, Blueshift? Martin

I have a theory based on how interchangeable SS86 and Kingdom seem to be. But this one takes place after the decision to put BW into Kingdom and split the G1.
Grimlock was intended for Kingdom, Ultra Magnus for SS86. Hasbro said fairly recently that UM was intended to use ER Optimus as a base, but for undisclosed reasons, they dropped it. Grimlock does not match movie aesthetics. At least, not as well as others. He's like... Halfway between toy and sunbow. He's also completely weaponizer compatible (which compatibility is a mixed bag lately). Plus, why wouldn't you put the dinosaur in the Beast Wars line?
But when UM failed and they went for a not great retool of Siege UM, he completely destroyed the Sunbow aesthetics they were going for. The decision was made to swap UM for Grimlock. Maybe with enough time to kerplunk a stupid wheelie minifigure to tie him better into the movie.

I thought the Magnus from ER Op was just a rumour. It didn't make sense at the time because I can't see how they would make a Magnus trailer that could combine out of the ER one. It would have had to have been totally new, which may be a reason why that idea was canned - it'd be just too expensive, unless they were intending to use the core robot with a whole new trailer specifically for SS86. SS86 Grim also seems to be way too big and chunky for Generations Leaders. Those two lines seem to have different budgets; his aesthetic fits the SS86 figures.
I think the reason everything seems a bit random at the moment is because we know the new design team/manager came in during Kingdom W1's design stage. There may have been a lot of Warden initiated stuff that got mixed up with the ideas the new chap had, compounded by the desire to try and switch SS over from Bay to 86 in time for the anniversary. Hence the big jumble.
We know Warden wasn't averse to stuff drifting between lines, PotP was a mess of ideas like Kingdom is and we even had TR style figures as far as Siege. The odd one to me is Cyclonus. If there is a second wave of SS86 coming, why was he not just kept for that? We can guess the Deluxe wave was supposed to be four like Generations (not SS though) usually is, and Hot Rod got bumped up a class when he became too expensive, but why did that cause Cyclonus to move over instead of waiting when there are plenty of other options for Kingdom voyagers? The only thing with that is that there are no clues in the product numbers, everything suggests it's as it should be.
