My main workhorse machine is starting to show it's age and creaking a bit.
Last year just hours after I completed the last thing I needed for TFNation (the coloured movie storyboards) it died and I needed to wipe it and start again. This year, it's creaked and struggled a bit when doing the TF Animated Comic and the big massive banners you saw at TFNation.
So he's being redeployed. A new machine is on it's way and he will be relegated to a media device, i was trying to hold off until Xmas, but a combination of it struggling more with what I have been working on recently and a conversation with Gav saw me head to the apple store online and get a shinier/faster model.

Andy Hmm. Yeah, sounds like it is reaching the end of a long and valiant service life. Time for it to enjoy a nice semi-retirement. Whereas my old laptop has been decanted, carefully resurrected and will be nursed through the next few months as the replacement for the late lamented Staticchap. I think that in due course a replacement will be procured once I have moved though - Laptop has one or two hours of the airframe too... Karl

It has arrived.
Now begins the day of syncing files and installing software again! I know, I should use TimeMachine, but I always like fresh start on a new machine.

to be fair, mac's render graphics at a much superior rate and you don't get as much degradation/lag in graphics related work

Imacs give me the fear. Years of using Imacs in various workplaces were they constantly froze up and/or broke down. I still get a twitch when I hear their name. I associate them with making my life difficult!

Not used one in about 12 years. Similar story. Plus most work stuff is done on PC or (sobs) Linux.

I am something of a Mac fanboy these days.
Though nothing beats an Amiga.
