Apparently not unless the date is wrong on the graphics. 6th-8th September 2019 is right for a Friday-Sunday event though.

It's hard to be moved by an announcement of something two years away.
Perhaps Hascon did well but not well enough to be a yearly event. Or perhaps the resources aren't there at Hasbro to make it yearly. Who knows.

Yeah bit surprised.
From what Ive heard from people there it was fine for what it is, but what it wasn't is a convention. It basically a trade show, but with fans, actually families mostly. I get the sense it was almost like a corporte take on the old Worlds Fairs concept.
It does seem the location could have held significantly more people than were there though.
I dont get the gap year. 12 months would surely have been enough to rejig things if the intention had been for a yearly event. And if it was always intended to be every other year why drop Botcon, even if Hasbro plan their own club thing, there would still be space in the calendar for a proper convention every other year run by FP, Hasbro or other.

It might depend on their promotional strategies and their expected "cycle" time for kids moving through their product-lines. Or, indeed, perhaps it is felt to be effective enough for what it was, but not effective enough to make it an annual expense? We aren't really privy to the criteria that it was being judged against by Hasbro so it is difficult to make more than educated guesses really. Karl

Apparently the equivalent big Disney event is biannual as well, so presumably Hasbro are just straight up nicking their format.

I'll be interested to find out the reason or reasons behind this.

I hear Hasbro have plans to move out of Rhode Island which may have something to do with it.
