There have been a few more reported, not exactly widespread though. Unlike a cracked crotch.. What happened to the Display base, they didn't put it in the box

Mine came in. Waist not cracked. He doesn't come with a base, he's intended to use Dinobot's or Primal's (can't tell which).
He is absolutely terrifying to transform. Tons of tiny, thin hidden tabs that feel like they're glued. And a thousand pinch points. Beware: finger danger!

He doesn't come with a display base? At that price? Bloody hell.

I look at it and feel some temptation but not convinced to pay 270 bangers.

They're beautiful, the BW MPs. They really look like what Masterpiece figures should do, but that's helped by the fact the CG models they're based on are so much more detailed than the G1 equivalents. If money were no object I'd love them all on a shelf because they'd look like a premium collection, but I'm not invested in BW enough to spend that kind of money.

Not sure, but I think he's in true scale with most of the G1 MPs.

Okay, with most of the kibble being removable, and similarities in transformation, I had been going under the theory that it was designed with a Transmetal Megatron retool in mind.
But I remembered another shellformer notable toy taking it's entire beast mode off, with the back beast feet forming the robot legs, and similarly shaped torso, transformation, and size... What if the retool they have in mind is Big Convoy?

That's an absolutely bonkers theory. I'll be interested to see if it pays out...

I have acquired a MP43 second hand for a decent price. Minor paint chips on inner thigh, how common is this? Looks like a result of trying to manoeuvre the legs/panels to line up for beast mode.
Further thoughts once I have had more time with him, yessssss.
Update: The chips are on the back of the thighs in robot mode so hidden. Seems like there are some reports of poor quality finish on black paint.
Bot mode waist is very loose. Seems I'm not the only one to find this...

Hrm, you can get 1/12 scale doll house rubber ducks quite easily. Problem solved! I have acquired several of said ducks. Free to those that want them (even if you just want to put them with original TM Megs).

Curiously, this Megatron was never shown with a rubber ducky. It's my belief that they're saving the rubber ducky for if they do Transmetal Megatron. Which itself would not be the classic rubber ducky everyone expects.

I'm running on the assumption that Megatron always had the rubber duck, we only saw it once he was TM though given that it was in Coming of the Fuzors.

No..? What am I missing? How many ducks did he have? Two. The concept of the rubber duck was introduced in a season two episode Coming of the Fuzors when mainframe snuck one into a pile of Megatron's junk. Megatron wasn't even on base at the time. This was the classic yellow rubber duck design. The second rubber duck is the one he was seen holding, in the season three episode Crossing the Rubicon.I'm running on the assumption that Megatron always had the rubber duck, we only saw it once he was TM though given that it was in Coming of the Fuzors. I'm running on the assumption Takara only gives MPs accessories they were seen on screen with, though. That seems to be the trend. Either way, both duckies are associated with his transmetal form.

But they're the same rubber duck, look at the beak! The eyes are bulging because Megatron is squeezing it and for some reason the duck also turned Transmetal, hence the metallic stripes and antenna. I'm running on the assumption Takara only gives MPs accessories they were seen on screen with, though. That seems to be the trend. Either way, both duckies are associated with his transmetal form. I agree (hence me earlier stating you can just use them for original TM figure), but that pile of junk is early enough in Season 2 for us to conclude that he owned it all in Season 1, so I can justly stand my MP-43 holding a rubber duck without worrying about it being non-cannon. I can't believe I'm discussing this. Do you want a duck accessory or not?

Why are they called rubber ducks when they're made of plastic? I ask only because I was just wondering whether a transmetal rubber duck is still allowed to be called a 'rubber' duck. Cos it isn't rubber. But then rubber ducks aren't rubber anyway.
